Help please! Honeymoon at Aventura Spa Palace?
I am looking at the Aventura Spa Palace as an option for my honeymoon in September, 2003. Has anyone been there for a honeymoon? If so, what were your impressions? If not, but you have been there not on a honeymoon, what did you think? How was the food? Service? Room?
We had originally looked at the Grand Lido resorts in Jamaica. Can anyone compare the Carribean all-inclusives to the Aventura? Thanks so much in advance! |

Honeymoon Info
I have seen to the Aventura Spa Palace. It is beautiful, however it is not on the beach. They made a man-made beach, the X-pu Palace is just as nice and it is right on the beach. I have been to over 12 properites down in the Riveria Maya, so if you have any quesiojs, please let me know.

Grand Lido Negril
Hey Everyone! My husband & I got married @ Grand Lido Negril, & it was wonderful! We did almost nothing, they did everything. We had an ocean veiw, there is a "clothing optional" peach (where most of the snorkeling is done) & there is a regular beach! This place is huge. There are 3 spots that you have an outdoor bar, some covered dining area, & a jacuzzi. Our room did not have a jacuzzi, but it was great. The only bad thing was that our shower mad an awful noise & the water pressure was very high! But it's not like that stopped us from having the best time in our lives. This year we are going to Aventura Spa Palace. I saw on expedia that GLN is charging almost $7000 for 7 nights!!! When we went, it was $4500! That includes airfare, cancellation waiver, & round-trip shuttle to & from the resort! I think that no matter what, you will enjoy either!

Hey Mike,
As I mentioned in my trip report there were tons of honeymooners at ASP. They also have quite a few perks for honeymooners and a department devoted just to them. The lagoon was so nice we hardly noticed there was not an actual beach, but if you want Xpu-Ha is only 5 minutes away and has a beautiful beach to use with all the priviledges of your resort. I wouldn't stay there though as it was not adult only and that counts for so much especially on your honeymoon. No offense to parents out there but that's the ONE time I really don't want to see any kids. ASP excells in romance and as large as it seems to be (and is) we really thought we were in a small, intimate resort as romance is it's atmoshpere. I did TONS of research when picking this resort and my boyfriend kept telling me everyday what a great choice we made. When we got back he finally (cause god knows he couldn't look while researching) went thru the brochures himself and again commented that we made the best possible choice. The one thing I will tell you is to check out the Royal Hideaway as it's the ONE resort that I have not seen a negative review on. Not a single one. I wanted to go there but it was a bit pricey for us and I gotta tell you we were NOT disapointed in anyway. I'm also a firm beleiver in "things are what you make it". If you look for negatives and are hard to please then nothing is going to make you happy. As for the few negative food comments regarding ASP from other people, I have to say that we never had a bad meal and I am a very picky eater. Having said that please understand that you are in Mexico and Chinese food will not be the same as you get in the States or Canada. They will have their own spin on all the food types there and for those that did not enjoy the food at ASP I can only guess that it was simply not what they were used to because we never had a bad meal. We never got bored of the food. It was always fresh, and always cooked. We had high expectations of this resort and it exceeded our expectations 10 fold. |

Aventura Spa Palace- Best Vacation Ever
:P My sister and I went to the Aventura Spa Palace in December 2002 and it was the most relaxing vacation ever! The choices for day activities, food, and entertainment was amazing and endless. Nightlife was great. Each night has a different thing going on-- shows, carnival night, Karaoke, and dancing later each night. Lots of couples, but a few groups of mixed travelers. NO Kids allowed. True, there is no actual beach, but when you go to the Spa Palace, you can go to any of the other 6 Palace hotels and use their facilities (but they don't let you go to the Spa Palace from the other Palaces without an upgrade fee - at least for overnights- cause the Spa is the nicest one) The XPu -Ha Palace is a 5 minute ride away (they provide trans) And the Spa was absolutely incredible-- it rained every day - part of the day--- but we didn't even care--- we were so utterly relaxed. It is a first-class, full service spa with well over one hundred service choices.... I could have stayed a month....
It is CLEAN and beautiful...... Every room has a two-person Jacuzzi tub in the middle room. There are a lot of tours to the Mayan ruins, Isla Mujeres, etc included, BUT ASK once on site--- because there is also a tour desk where they will try to sell you stuff, and if it is already in your package, you don't want to pay twice. And beware the timeshare people- they will call you for "an orientation" but we were able to sucessfully avoid them without much problem we are looking forward to going back, and I am the type that never likes to repeat a same place twice- but this place is the exception. |

I hope you booked the Aventura Spa Palace. My husband spent 8 beautiful days at this resort in November/December 2002 and are planning to return again this fall. The resort has everything you could need, especially if you are looking for R&R.
We found the food to be top shelf and the chefs were willing to prepare as requested. The help was more than adequate for the number of people at the resort and something was always going on, if you wanted to partake. We did Grand Lido Negril in October 2001 and I would definately return to Spa Palace before returning to Grand Lido. If you are over 35 and married, and don't participate in the Toga Parties, then Spa is definately for you. 8)

ASP Honeymoon
After a great amount of research, my husband and I will be spending our 10th wedding anniversary at the ASP. I found some great review on www.tripadvisors.com, take a look. If you need any help with your planning, email me, I have been a trave agent for over 20 years and would love to help you out. Otherwise, book the Spa Palace and have a great time. I know we will, we too are going in Sept.
