Oh Ginger.
I have been there, hon. I have been carrot orange and very dark brown myself- both were at home 'accidents' though. I feel your pain. But I like it! It looks good on you, and it's always nice to change things once in a while.it's only hair, and the colour will fade fast -because your hair was lighter underneath, even if it is a permanent colour, it will wash out- if you want to speed that up, use dishwasher liquid. Or you could wait a couple weeks, washing it daily, then go back and get them to add some lighter streaks, if you still think it is too dark? But I think it looks very sexy. Now you are making me want to dye my hair dark again- a phase I go through every two years or so. |

I have had my hair professionally died, faithfully every 6 weeks, for the last 14 years (gray, what gray??). It has been my experience that when you change color, or style, you really shouldn't make any decision for at least 3-4 days afterward. As far as the style goes, I love the new look, as it is much for updated and stylish! So, my opinion is keep the style, and give the color at least a week, before you decide on that. You do look very lovely!

Wow, I logged on and read this thread and you guys are all awesome! Thanks soooo much everyone for all the compliments, you've made me feel better about my hair, and better about myself!
I got up this morning and went to the bathroom and startled myself when I first looked in the mirror... I'm still not liking the darkness of it...but I am liking the cut. Even that part was hard for me, I"m used to having really long hair and it doesn't feel long anymore since she layered it, but that's just me 'cause John said I'm nuts, it's still long as ever. I"m going to do like mflsqueen and others suggested, and wait a few days and see if it grows on me. I didn't think permanent hair colour lightened, but I'm glad to read here that it will fade a little. So I'll leave it and see. Thanks for the support everyone!!! |

I've been seeing the same stylist for years. I'm not fussy about much in life, but I AM fussy about my hair. So I don't usually trust anyone else....but I had a fundraiser to go to last night where some of my prints were being auctioned off and I wanted my hair done before I went, so I decided to let another stylist do the whole deal. |

I love it, it looks terrific! The pic actually made me regret putting highlights in my hair, since I'd been dying it myself dark for some time (my hair is naturally a very ugly, dishwater, wishy-washy color). I think I'll go back to doing it myself now.
And the layers make a huge difference in how good your hair will look all the time. I just wash it, put it up in a clip, then at night pull it down and it's really full and piece-y. You're gonna love it! |

Hey, Ginger....
I'm kinda diggin the avatar pic That being said, I have a thing for brunettes, regardless how dark. The S.O. just went to her "winter" colors and I commented tht they were darker than I was expecting. Apparently that's the trend this year. Either one works for me They're both smokin'B |

I like it Ginger....have fun with it...if you really don't like the color, then go back and get it fixed. I use dark colors on my hair and they can be tricky..especially Clairol products. They always come out way too dark than you expected. Rule of thumb..choose a shade that's 2 shades lighter than what you want. Also the tones in a color make a difference...blue, gold, red, green,. The blues will really make it dark. I use a dark blonde on mine and I am a brunette!!!!
It will fade and lighten up....I would not advise you to try to change it yourself but there are some tricks to help speed up the process. You look great with any color....except maybe yellow blonde. |
