Yes, but you probably wouldn't want to live there.

If we are still talking about the Starbucks location in Playa, I heard that it will be right on Avenida 5 y Calle 10.

Our reason for investing in Playa was to live away from the USA, so now we are re-thinking where we will put down our new roots. At least from the investment side of it we win, but then I guess some would consider us part of the problem. Our recent trip to Guanajuato was refreshing......NO Star$$$$$, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Sam's, Costco, etc. We didn't make it to Leon, 30-40 mins away, but heard that those stores are located there. So, a drive to the "big" city would be necessary for supplies, much as it used to be when Cancun was where the ex-pats did their shopping. I guess what I am trying to convey here is that we liked the idea of living in Mexico and living as local Mexicans, shopping like them included. We like the culture and family values that are associated with the more simple ways that they live. The American/Canadian expat influence and the greed of the developers, are taking away the charm of Playa, but we knew that it was inevitable. I just heard that yet another condominium project will be in the works soon near El Paraiso, just south of the new and useless pier. So my friends, enjoy paradise while you can before they put up a parking lot.

Oh, good, then we can enjoy walking past it on our way to Java Joe's.

I hear ya. One of them sour facts of modern America. And for all the nostalgia for this half-real, half-myth space, the question remains as to how authentic and/or pervasive this longing really is.
