not mind boggling at all

I don't find it mind boggling at all. Look, say what you will about Starbucks but it opens early, on time, is always clean and pretty inviting. I may not think much of their coffee and I sort of wish I was sitting at a quaint little coffeeshop in Playa rather than Starbucks but there are none that open early in the morning.

The main reason that out coffee groups meets at Starbucks EVERYday at 6:30am is that it is the only place that we know of that opens that early. We really don't meet there for the Starbucks coffee.

You could not PAY me, literally, to step foot inside that place.. The coffee is garbage, overpriced and only what an inexperienced "coffee lover" would consider to be good coffee..

I understand they open early, but I'd rather wait until 8am to support local business - but that's just my 2 pesos.

Coffee Stop is owned by a guy name Paul (who I'm sure many of you are awrare of and it's probably already been mentioned on this thread) who's an expat making a living here on Pesos. He's an unbelievably welcoming, helpful and genuinely good guy who deserves the business far more than Starmucks..

His place is not as big as Starbucks, and he only has one blend, but the beans are from Chiapas and they're roasted fresh in Playa. C'mon guys, support local business!!! He also has some damn good crossiants - not to mention the chocolate cake that I GUARANTEE blows any Starbucks desserts has out of the water.

Coffee Stop

Yeah, but is Coffee Stop open at 6:30 a.m.? If he is, happy to give him a try as long as he is within reasonable vicinity. I'm the customer and if "local" business does not want to support customer, local or tourist, in terms of being open at coffee time, then Starbucks it is.

As the Proud Texan says, 6:30 is coffee time, not 8. Some in the group have to go to work. We are all early risers.
Maybe Paul could get up earlier
I take my own coffee (Wolfgang Puck) to Starbucks. I don't like Starbucks coffee either.
Out of curiosity, where is Paul's Coffee Stop coffee shop?

While I admit to enjoying Starbucks (I drink their tea and their frappucinos..not a coffee drinker), I have to agree with NoMoreAmerika on Paul's place (Coffee Stop). He is a lovely, lovely guy who makes you feel like one of his friends from the second you meet him. Great bagels, cute little shop, and I love to go there!
