Bill Clinton: I got closer to killing bin Laden

Just one excerpt from this evidently charged flare-up:

Clinton asserted he had done more to try to kill bin Laden than "all the right-wingers who are attacking me now." In fact, Clinton said, conservatives routinely criticized him for "obsessing" over bin Laden while he was in office.

"They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try. They did not try. I tried. So I tried and failed," he said.

The September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks occurred about eight months after Bush took office.

can we get a real and factual accounting of when that happened the ony thing I've read recently is that the taliban offered Bin Laden to anyone but the U.S. after 9-11 and was turned down.

A bi-partisan effort that seems to be highly regarded in terms of its throughness, fairness and objectivity. That is until it doesn't make your particular side look so good, at which point it immediately switches to being a woefully biased and misleading effort that wasted loads of tax money in the making.

Or so I've heard.

More seriously, the first chapter was so chilling (like the films coming out now, or really more like just seeing all the news reports again, perhaps) that I for one could never get any farther...
