Just in case you fellow Minnesotans didn't know...and a quick question
I wrote about this in the another thread but felt I needed to mention it on it's own and it's a bit off topic so to say. I finally went and visited the new "Global Market" located here in Minneapolis, MN in the old gigantic Sears building at Lake St. and Chicago Ave. on the first floor. It's filled with a ton of different restaurants and markets consisting of food from all over the world. I had the best fish tacos I've ever had. They were "Pescado Al Pastor Tacos"! Maybe pescado al pastor exists in Playa, but I've never stumbled across it. They are fish tacos made with some tasty al pastor maranade. I am a huge fan of regular tacos al pastor and fish tacos so this was a real treat for me. From what I saw the restaurant has an all seafood menu. The prices were fair enough. It's located some where in the middle across from the carribian place called "West Indies Soul" which as well is really good as far as jerk chicken and such goes. There's a lot to choose from in the global market, but I imagine I'll be sticking with those pescado al pastor tacos every other day or so for some time to come....
So, I'll add the question then.... Are there places to get pescado tacos al pastor in Playa? |

La Sirena Gorda is where you ate and by far one of the best places in town to get authentic Mexican fare. I believe you can get pescaodo al pastor at El Oasis in Playa. The pescado al pastor here is Marlin /w diced pineapple marinaded in an achiote sauce; served on corn tortillas. $6.95 Can you tell I've been there a few times?
The owner Alphonso Menendez is from Mexico City and also owns the bakery at Global Market called Many's Tortas. You have to try his Tres Leches Cake. Mmm..............

My friend Joe who owns Joe's Garage on Loring Park is a big fan of Manny's Tortas and told me to try it. I was going to get a torta there the same night and take it home, but they closed up, plus I was pretty full from the tacos anyway. I am going there later today. I'll try a torta at Manny's and get my pescado tacos al pastor.
