Greetings from a Texas Journalist
Hello everyone. I am a journalist currently living in Texas. I have never posted on this forum because I have always found that the answers I needed were here already! I have planned three trips to Playa using the information provided here. Thanks to all you regulars!!
I am headed to Playa again in a week, and this time I am using the trip for a little work as well as relaxation. I am writing a story about American immigration to Mexico. All we hear about in America is Mexicans coming north, but those of us who visit Mexico often realize that a lot of Americans move south as well. I want to interview as many Americans living in Playa as possible for my story. If you have made the move to Mexico and would be willing to give me an interview, please send me a message. I am particularly interested in talking to younger people who are running businesses in Mexico. I really appreciate your help! Leigh Wimberley, Texas |

Welcome!
Good luck in your quest... You should have a few names already from the info gleaned from this forum. Hopefully you'll be able to bring in more than a few folks to your story. **EDIT** Kudos on getting one of the very few Staudt interviews, btw. To the Folks in Playa, expats from US or North America/Britain (if this fits Leigh's parameters) - she is an award winning journalist - who I'm sure didn't care to list her pedigree right out of the box - but I am POSITIVE that if you can help her out on this assignment/idea, please post your willingness to do so here. I'm pretty certain that you will come away with a very positive experience. Last edited by cuffedlinks : 09-26-2006 at 11:15 PM. |

Leigh,
Welcome and look forward to your story. A couple that I think have an interesting story is Joanne and Robert Birce. A small bit of their story has been documented in the September, 2004 issue of Coastal Living Magazine. They are the owners of Alma Libre Books in Puerto Morelos, which is half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Their bookstore reopens in October for the season. They are also members of this forum. |
