Not that I'm complaining about gas prices falling! Keep it coming!
Yeah, its not really fair to be angry at the Emperor for not wearing clothes when he was naked when first appointed to office in 2000!

As far as gas prices go, I will tell you, I put my money where my mouth is on that one. I transferred about 10K of our retirement into energy stocks last week. I plan to transfer them out and reap a healthy profit sometime later in November, AFTER the election, when gas is back up closer to $3.00 per gallon.

Those are among the findings of a new TIME poll conducted this week among 1,002 randomly-selected voting-age Americans.

The poll suggests the Foley affair may have dented Republican hopes of retaining control of Congress in November. Among the registered voters who were polled, 54% said they would be more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate for Congress, compared with 39% who favored the Republican. That margin may be fueled by the rolling scandal over sexually explicit e-mails sent to teenage pages by Republican Representative Mark Foley. Almost 80% of respondents were aware of the scandal, and only 16% approve of the Republicans' handling of it. Those polled were divided, however, on whether House Speaker Dennis Hastert should resign over his handling of the Foley affair, with 39% saying he should resign and 38% saying he should not.

Iraq, meanwhile, is continuing to be a problem for the Republicans. Only 38% of respondents in the TIME poll now support President Bush's decision to invade Iraq, down from 42% three months ago. A similar number believe that the new Iraqi government will succeed in forming a stable democracy, while 59% believe this is unlikely. Almost two-thirds (65%) of respondents disapprove of President Bush's handling of the war, while 54% believe he "deliberately misled" Americans in making his case for war — a figure that has increased by 6 points over the past year. President Bush's overall approval rating, according to TIME's poll, now stands at just 36%, down from 38% in August.

Let me tell you what I find really depressing and upsetting. After years of Republican scandal after scandal involving graft, corruption, bribery, campaign funding abuse, war profiteering, war mismanagement, etc., it may be a plain old sordid sexual scandal that ends up having the most effect on the voters.

So here's a lesson for the next generation of political leaders - you can lie, cheat and steal all you want - just as long as you keep your d*ck in your pants...

dude, put all your money in Roma tomatoes.........GW has driven the price up 120% in the last 3 weeks and they could go even higher.....but I imagine, he'll bring the price back down to $.99/lb 4 days before the election to secure the Hispanic and Italian votes for Republicans

Scott I know you think I'm in "tin foil hat" mode on this one, but I'll tell you what...

Come late November or sometime in December one of us can give the other a nice fat "I told you so!" over a couple of shots of tequila!!!

Here's one way I think it may play out... "Record low yesterday in Fargo, North Dakota! Price of heating oil is going up! Sorry about your gas prices!!!"

haven't seen any possibilities there........maybe Elizabeth Dole coulda been a Mrs Smith 6 years ago, but I don't see any current potential female candidates that aren't solely concerned about power and pushing their party's agenda

If it's one thing I hate about election time in this country it's those damn TV ads!

"I'm Joe Schmuck and I approve this message" Well of course you did you idiot...you're the one doing the talking! This is one area that is truely Bipartisan...all sides are just as guilty. Talk about insulting our intelligence!

Stewart...I'm in your corner on the gas prices...I see an increase by the end of November.

From MSNBC.com

Mo. high court strikes down voter ID law
Requirement called 'unconstitutional infringement' on right to vote

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Supreme Court struck down the state's new voter identification law Monday that would have required voters to show a photo ID card at the polls starting this fall.

A lower judge ruled last month that the ID requirement was an unconstitutional infringement on the fundamental right to vote. The state Supreme Court agreed in a 6-1 unsigned opinion.

The new law would have required voters to show a photo identification card issued by Missouri or the federal government before they could cast a ballot. Voters lacking the ID would be allowed to cast a provisional ballot this fall, but after that, only the elderly, disabled and those with religious objections could vote without one, and only by provisional ballot.

The court found the requirement violated several provisions in the state constitution. The justices said requiring otherwise legitimate voters to obtain an appropriate ID imposed too great of a burden on their voting rights.
