We here in Utah's 3rd congressional district might have the only US congressman who speaks a little Mayan.
Chris Cannon also speaks Spanish with a very weird accent. (He was a missionary in Guatemala.) But his language skills are his only redeeming quality. He's a crook that would make Raul Salinas look honest. |

Cook, of The Cook Political Report and Stu Rothenburg are well worth watching. I do not know as much about the 3rd guest, Chuck Todd.
Ron • COOK, ROTHENBERG & TODD on CNBC’s “TIM RUSSERT” THIS WEEKEND: Don’t miss Tim Russert’s hour long interview with Charlie Cook, Stu Rothenberg, Editor and Publisher of The Rothenberg Political Report, and Chuck Todd, Editor of The Hotline, on CNBC Saturday, November 4 at 7pm EST and 10pm EST and Sunday, November 5 at 1am EST. |

That being said, congrats to the Dems and let's hope this election is not a sign of the times for next election what with the personal attacks and avoiding a discussion of the issues. It comes to mind just how many of the ads said a vote for such and such is just another vote for George Bush. Well Duh! What a concept! Republican Senators voting with a Republican President! I think this is the first time I have seen such contempt for the President in a Senatorial election. For the Republican side, it was not talking about issues either, rather how much dirt can we find! Just all around disheartening!

2. Repeal of Bush's tax cut to the wealthiest Americans ; 3. Get spending under control so our National Debt does not continue to rise by approximately 1 trillion dollars per year (national debt is currently approximately $27,000.00 for every man, woman and child in the U.S. ). For an interesting graph of national debt trends look at this graph and then tell me if you can spot what Bush's tax cuts have cost this country:http://www.cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htm 4. Open appropriate investigative and oversight committees and use the subpoena power of congress to investigate the many alleged abuses of power and corruption we've been seeing over the past six years (I can't wait for the subpoenas to be served on Halliburton in regard to "no bid" contracts and war profiteering and the subpoenas to be served on the top oil executives as to their meeting with Dick Cheney in 2001 "to set energy policy.") 5. Passage of tough new laws regarding corruption, new laws invoking criminal (instead of simply civil) penalties for violations of election laws, and true campaign finance reform. For starters. Oh, and by the way, in case he's reading this - Hey Rush Limbaugh - F*CK YOU. Congratulations Senator McCaskill. Now I'm just holding my fingers crossed that Webb's victory in Virginia will hold up under recount DESPITE PDS's vote for George Allen! Allen is such a hideous racist (he's the "Macaca" guy), liar and anti-semite he makes me sick. This was one of the Senate races I was REALLY hoping we would win, whether or not we win control over the senate (which it looks like we still might pull off!)A little closer to home - Glad Nick Lampson won down in Sugar Land. I honestly thing he is going to do an awesome job in congress and think he may have a shot at re-election, even in that EXTREMELY red congressional district. |

Moderate and conservative Democrats replace moderate and liberal Republicans. Although the parties have changed (and that might not be such a bad thing), I don't see a switch in the general political sense of the country. It still remains moderately on the right. Looks like Lieberman is going to have a lot more power, which is kind of funny.
I am just glad that fence will not be built. Congrats to the Dems.
