If the translation went south, blame it on them ICT folks who've developed the translation software.
If you translate that back to English is says: "Smart human being and realy superb" Whatever that may mean. . Always strange so see Dutch words on this forum. I almost thought you spoke some Dutch words... And never trust a ICT guy! Bill gates = good example.
This is going totally

There are some tips on what you must avoid.
Any articles out there on ugly locals? Plenty of those here.

Damn good article and advice Jesus. Thanks for sharing I think we can all take something from this article and if you can't remember it's title.

And were did you find those threads Scott? I know that didn't come from Nieman/Marcus.

You haven't met some like those who tried taking advantage of the people who lent their business for a money-raising event in aid of DJ. They claimed there were some "illegals" working at these premises - meaning the girls who gave of their time and effort to raise funds. Although they were Immigration officers themselves they grassed them up to Immigration (because no bribe money was forthcoming, alledgelly).
Or all the contractors who, when given a job for good money start thinking straight away what's the best way to rob you.
Or the Harbourmaster's Office that, after being accused of corruption in the issuing of nautical permits set up an internal "investigation" into the matter and announced that, instead of the usual 2 to 4 weeks, from this month companies asking for permits for their working boats would have to wait at least six months (kind of saying "just keep paying the bribes and keep schtum otherwise we have ways of making your life life difficult. In fact, a notary that is notorious in these parts can get permits issued in less than a week... and I'm sure there are a lot more vultures between 5th and the Ejido)
Or why the girls here prefer calling the local buses - the collectivo - the molestivos...
Or the Federal who stopped me on the highway when I was returning from Cancun and told me I had committed a list of traffic violations as long as his Pinocchio nose - all ficticious, of course, I had done my research about driving a foreign plated car. I remained silent, let him talk until he felt compelled to say he'd "help me out" if I gave him some money there and then. I replied I had 112 pesos on me so he'd better be motivated for a long hard night of paperwork. He let me go.
Or the guy who nearly killed me on the cyclepath because he was reversing on to 10th, from behind a palm tree, talking on his cellphone and looking left(!!! I could hazard a guess on why the Maya didn't have the wheel, but I don't feel inclined to discuss jungle impenetrability, swampy ground and other such gems): when I asked him to be more careful he replied he could do what he wanted. When I pointed out that even in a lawless country like Mexico (for all intents and purposes there are no laws in Mexico; inspite of the beautiful Constitution and the fine body of laws no matter how serious the crime enough money will let you off. Corruption isn't a problem here, it is part of society's DNA) the law forbids you to drive and use a cellphone he told me to go back to my country. I told him to get out of his car and make me but he decided upon opting for the better part of valour.
Or the guy who blocked my pickup - legally parked - because he "just had to go to the bank". I said I was leaving very soon and that he knew anytime you go to a bank here it means at least half an hour's wait. He said he had to go and anyway I had a foreign-plated car and therefore had no right to occupy a "Mexican space". I stuck my face to his and told him that when I had to leave I would even if I had to take his car, or part thereof, with mine. He moved.
Or the countless shopkeepers who think clients are lucky that their ingenuity and endeavour, plus some god's grace plonked their shop in our miserable, wreteched paths?
For the most part the only way a tourist can offend a local is by not buying something off them, not giving them a tip or not bribing them, because if you do you can get up to almost anything you bloody wish.

How many more "nice locals" stories do you need?

It's lamentable to read of the immigration incident involving folks who were working/volunteering with the DJ cause, not to mention the various other instances concerning characters of dubious integrity.

By the same token, I am willing to bet that you may just as easily come up with the same number of instances, if not more, where those 'nice locals' went above and beyond in their conduct toward them fellow tourists, and their fellow paisanos for that matter.

Somehow I suspect that this is just one of those days when that last straw finally hit way, way incisively for confort.
I also think that perhaps Cuffs hit the mark by suggesting not so much the proverbial shot of liquid courage, but rather a cooling down period, with some friendly faces, preferably in a relaxing setting, way out there, where the corrosive tensions of the modern Mexican praxis have been silenced.

Hey another weekend is right around the corner, just in time to detox with a new bottle. Here's to cooler days ahead, cheers.

Reminds me of the halls in between classes during my 1970's high school experience...
