It's the American way I guess; way, way above my head.
Actually I enjoy the idiosyncracies latent in this here particular tradition. Seems as though the colonial architects of the American revolution forgot to evoke their ode to the universality of men's inalienable rights without them British shoes on their feet.

And again when this newly independent country proclaimed the sublime virtue of individual effort and achievement, as expressed in the fervid declaration that henceforth men would be judged on the merits of their feats, the British influence was still clearly afoot.

So for all the idealized and idealistic declarations of distinctiveness, and independence, modern America still talks, and walks with an English measure on its feet.

Not all of us use the American/British measure
Scientists, Health Professionals, all have to use metric. Actually I find metric to be much easier than the American/British measure...

I hear this all the time, and I'm almost not suprised anymore. I grew up using both systems, at least in school. We always had problems in both units... even in mixed units. Anybody work with slugs?

I'm happy that I grew up feeling temperatures in fahrenheit units since it's such a better scale for humans. The difference between 22 and 32 C is dramatic but jumping by tens in F is more subtle, with the whole "mid to upper 80's" type way of describing it. Better than saying "hmm, must be about 29.5" For this same reason, our distance units suck. "can I get an 11/16th wrench, please?" Meters are nice.

Sure, freeze at 32 and boil at 212 is odd, but the quirkiness of our standard units is charming in everyday life (familiar?)... just don't go building spaceships with it (although NASA did fine with it in the sixties).

I'm so

Yep, metric is definitely more endowed, no wonder it is so univerally revered.

yesterday I bought a bottle of Jimador 10th Anniversary 100% Agave reposado (the normal Jimador, a top selling tequila in Mexico by the Herradura company, is a mixto, which you can learn about on our tequila article ).

I agree with the reviews you'll find in the first link. I was suprised by the flavor, and the 160 pesos I paid at Mega was smooth, too.
