A different kind of visitor

This morning we were heading down 30th Ave. on the way Walmart when we saw a crowd gathered in a small parking lot. As we approached we saw a number of police officers with more arriving. Was it an accident? A crime of some sorts? As we got nearer we saw the problem. A very large Boa Constrictor, several feet long was sunning itself on the concrete. The cops were joking about who was going to pick it up and carry it away. We left before they asked for voluteers. As Jimmy Buffet says, "It's a jungle out here kiddies!"

Gee Tony, I thought that you would be the big brave guy and take it home as a unique addition to the jungle garden.

On our very first trip to Cozumel there was a fellow who came to the resort about the same time every day and brought this HUGE snake so that people could have their picture taken with it.

I am so terrified of snakes that whenever we saw him I made sure that I went to the opposite end of the resort whenever they appeared.

Boas, unless they have been mistreated, are usually very non-aggressive and easy to handle. I've kept several snakes in my life, and boas are always the easiest to handle and least likely to bite your friends!

I have actually seen one in the Hotel Zone in Cancun. It was in the little jungle area next to the Royal Mayan. I didnt touch it but my brother made sure to chase me with it.

No, sweetie. I was looking for a rattlesnake to make Tequila con Cascabel. Recipe: put a rattlesnake in a large jar of tequila and have him release his venom. Drink tequila. Then drink some other tequila to take the taste out of your mouth. Boast to your friends about what a badass you are.

A boa constrictor would take up the whole damn jar--no room for the tequila. And these guys don't have venom. The venom is what makes you...ahem...strong.

Here, snakey snakey snakey...

What happens when one of these friends falls out of favor? Is it immediately apparent to the boa?

According to my Game Warden husband, you are absolutely correct.

I am sure the policemen would want a tip for you taking a picture of the snake. Every one else that has an animal wants money if you take a picture.

You know somehow, I could see Cheri with a boa.
The feathered variety, however.
