This may come as an odd questions but...what are the balcony's like on the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms? Are they enclosed completely ie: not rails..from the pics it looks like they are just like a wall. Is there anything on the balcony? I'm asking because our youngest is a real climber! If there is a way she could climb over the wall i want to know. I wanted to go for a 2nd or 3rd floor room if possible, just because i don't want to be on ground level.

They are enclosed and there are chairs and a table out there - but you WILL want to keep an eye on the baby if you stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor!

OH you bet we will! No matter where we are our eyes will be on her..she's a monkey! I was interested in a room off the first floor because i thought there'd be more to see. That'll be DH and my hang out while kids snooze.

Balcony's in Mexico are not built to American standards. The ones at the IB Tucan/Quetzal are not to my waist, and I am 6 feet tall. They do have a flower box on the outside, but that is just another place for a child to step and fall off of. As Shammy suggested, if you are not on the first floor, you must keep an eye on any child on the balcony.

On another note, I am looking for pictures from our first floor rooms with a view and will post them shortly.

On a slightly different tack...

Do the rooms in the tucan/quetzal have phones, and can you call in direct to the rooms from outside?

Cheers

On the previous subject - I'll have to make sure I stay away from the balcony edge after a few tequilas!!!!!!!

Yes, the rooms have phones, but when calling in from the outside you get the switchboard and they switch you over to the room.
