Baseball playoffs and Series
So far the Cards are doing all right against that big, east coast city team. It will be tough to beat the Mets, but this fan is rooting for them.
What kind of odds are being given to the Cards now, and then to the NL winner against the Tigers? |

The Cats!!!!!!!!!!
Tigers in 5......... Being that I'm from the "D", I think it's freakin awsome that the Tigers made it to the WS... a 22 year drought.... I think no other team has what it takes to beat them in a seven (or 5) game series.... The Yanks...NOT... The A's...Not even close..! Even the so-called experts say it could be another sweep, no matter who the other team might be.... That's unheard of...! But, a close reality! GOOOOOOOO TIGERRRRRSSSSS!!!!!!!
ps... it was simply special to see them crush the Spankies..... huh....Yankies. |

The National League is a AAAA minor league at this point; the Cards and Mets have been beating on each other while those young, hard-throwing Tigers pitchers have been throwing side sessions and eating power bars and watching the worldwide leader; both NL teams are seriously flawed (Mets ran out of starting pitchers, literally and the Cardinals' offense suddenly looks old, gimpy, and uninspired). Let's just say that Justin Verlander is going to be like a kid in a candy store pitching in a National League stadium, where there are at least two throwaway outs in every lineup.
That said . . . anything is possible. The Tigers' lineup is less than ideal in some ways- Curtis Granderson is not a long-term solution in the leadoff role, and Sean Casey is prominently involved. Still, Detroit will be heavily favored over either team. And you know what? I'll be rooting for them. I loved the way they handled the Yankees in the ALCS, and then didn't even let Oakland get their hopes up. I can't root for a Tony LaRussa-managed team, and I don't think I can root for any New York team, although I do like these Mets (esp. Reyes) more than any other NY team I've seen. Go Tiggers! Everyone together now: "The wonderful thing about Tiggers, is Tiggers are wonderful things; their tops are made outta rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs; they're bouncy trouncy flouncy pouncy, fun fun fun fun fun; but the most wonderful things about Tiggers is all those games they won. Allllllll those games they won!" |

Best thing about October is knowing baseball season will soon be over.
Don't really follow it, but think I'm pulling for the Tigers this year. They aren't usually in the mix. Nice to see new blood. |
