Tommy,

My kid calls one parka, why, we don't know. He just started it and it worked. The other one he calls Roy, it's his name. Probably because he stayed with his grandparents for the first 6 months after Cheryl went back to work and all he ever heard was Roy, Roy, Roy from his grandmother. He's 8 1/2 now and the names never change.

Congrats.

My daughter in laws parents are Papa & Mimi.
Funny...my sister's in-laws were Papa and Mimi too. I had never heard of "Mimi" as a grandmother term before...

oops...way to distract from the main purpose of the thread AND forget to say CONGRATULATIONS!

And I like Tito too!

I like Papa and Nana, myself. I call my grandfather "grampa," however.

Congrats, abuela y abuelo! What's her name?

Heres a few unusual ones:

Dziadzia (Polish = grandfather) Good luck pronouncing that one!

Ye Ye (Chinese for grandfather) Probobly doesnt translate well, sounds like they have to go to the bathroom to me.

Phar-Phar (Swedish for father's father) Kinda sounds like a horses name!

I dont really care much for any of those, my personal favorites i think you should go with would include: Didler, Dumpa, Gommie and my first choice of Grampster!

Friends of mine who are Swiss call their grandparents Papa and Schatzi (means sweetie or sweetheart in German - pronounced, in this case, "shot-see")

I like Schatzi for Donna and Poppy or Tito for Tommy. And I agree, you both look too young to be grandparents. Congrats to you both.

My kids have "Grumpy"...(Husbands Dad) & Papa Lucky (My Dad). My nephew had two "Papas" both named Rob so he called my Dad Papa Lucky...Lucky being the family dogs name....It just stuck.
Hey congratulations on becoming a Grandpa.. Enjoy spoiling baby..

My stepfather was Polish, and he had all the grandkids calling him Jaju...who knew the correct spelling of that was dziadzia! Good luck to any kid trying to find a card that says Happy Father's Day Dziadzia!
