Hi soundgarden! And welcome to the insanity! nice choice of screen names, BTW...
I also like in MetroWest (Chelmsford) ...there are lots of us Boston Area folks. Hope you find your way to a Peep Meet one of these days.

Small world!! David and I have stayed 3 times at Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal (you're gonna LUV it!!), and I live right on Route 18 - about a block down from South Shore Hospital. Tonight David and I will be eating dinner tonight at Jamie's Grill (at the fork in Braintree, down Columbian Street). It's one of our favorite "haunts". Where'd you have dinner yesterday?

again welcome soundgarden....it's been many years since visiting Sunday River. What I remember it's beautiful especially right now as it's peak leaf peeping season. We live in central Maine near Bangor. Spend a lot of our time down east, Camden, Belfast and Acadia.

Thanks Eileencc - it's my favorite band!

My b/f and I ate at Indian Delight (I believe that it's on Route 53) last night. I know exactly where Jamie's is, as my b/f lives down the street from there. It's definitely a small world!

We are very much looking forward to staying at Tucan. The thought of not going AI never crossed our minds until I found this board. But we think for our 1st time, it's probably a great choice, and people seem to really love that resort. We also found a fantastic deal from Boston, and that helped a lot!
As for Maine, we are trying different places to ski and have heard great things about Sunday River. I haven't been to Acadia yet, but I have heard that it's beautiful.

Excellent - thanks for the suggestions and the links. We have mainly stuck to NH and VT for no good reason other than proximity. Maine is next on our list...and one day, way down the road when we ski well enough to deserve to go...Whistler!

Indian Garden: Each year I buy one (or two) of the South Shore Dinner Club coupon books, and Indian Garden is in them ($10 coupon!). Never been there - mainly cuz neither of us are familiar with Indian food, so we wouldn't have a CLUE what to order! Maybe you could give us some suggestions?? (Both of us are non-spicy peeps - i.e. we order our Buffalo Wings "mild/wimpy"). Or perhaps you'd like to throw caution to the wind and have a mini Peep Meet and meet us there some night for dinner? I'm usually(?) not too embarrassing in public (as long as Indian Delight doesn't have a children's pony ride outside the front door), and Gasman (David) is a doll (a fact to which many peeps who have met him would surely attest).

Iberostar: Don't give a second thought to doing an AI for your first time to Playa. For first-timers to the area, I think it's the best way to do it. You chose an AI that's a $5 cab ride (approx.) to Playa, so it'll be easy/inexpensive for you two to get a feel for Playa while having the security/comfort of the AI. I strongly urge you to see Playa both during the day AND especially at night. At night Playa has a whole different tempo and ambiance! As I stated in an earlier post, we've been to the Quetzal 3 times and loved it. The food is very good, the staff is awesome, and the beach is beautiful. And ya GOTTA spend at least one afternoon getting hammered in the adults-only pool bar!! We stumbled outta that pool bar on many occasions! If you have any questions about the resort, please ask!!

HI,,,,welcome to the board. You are going to love your stay. The resort you will be at is fabulous. Make sure you spend at least one night down town PDC. I am jealous.

Welcome neighbor! This website is the place to meet great people and learn so much. On my first trip to Playa I felt so "ready" because of this website. You too will fall in love with Playa like all of us and want to go back over and over again. I am ready to take my 7th trip there. Sometimes Playa reminds me of a mexican/international P-Town (okay without sooooo much diversity, if you know what I mean like P-town, Playa is one of my favorite places. It is truly special.

Totally agree with ya Karen on this! We statyed at the IB last year for our honeymoon and absolutly loved it!! You will have a blast there (especially at the swim up bar! ) And the cab ride into town is cheap and quick!

You'll have a great time!

Thanks for all the welcomes! This is fantastic - knowing that so many people love the Playa makes it that much more exciting. We only have 5 days at IB (in retrospect, I wished that we had booked it for longer...), so I believe that we are spending 2 days simply at the resort, 1 day at Chichen Itza, and 2 days exploring PdC.

Nerak936, I would be happy to give you recommendations about Indian food! I'm a vegetarian, but all of my non-veg friends (including those who like milder foods and/or don't normally eat Indian food) attest to Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan (bread). A mini-peep meet would be fun - I've never done that before! Thanks for offering to help as well.

It's really great to read that everyone loved the Iberostar Tucan so much - I am sure my b/f and I will have a great time there.
