Irak: Armchair General
Firstly, I should say that I have no military experience and did not study the military strategies of world history at West Point etc.
It would seem to me that things are going bad to worst in Irak. The death toll of military personel is unacceptable. The war is supposed to be over. CNN has a shocking video of a sniper attack on us troops today. How can this be? I think they need to be a bit more martial. Why don't they close off cities, no traffic coming in or out, impose a curfew, no vehicular traffic at all. M1 A1 Abrams tanks should be in the streets. Anyone carrying a weapon will be shot on site. Armed Drones should be in the sky over all cities. Specialized night squads in black with night vision etc should patrol the streets. A new ministry of propaganda should be working 24/7. All of this and more until all the weapons have been confiscated and all the armed bands have been eliminated. The Iraki army?? Trust but verify, Trust but verify. Think this is a bit harsh? I have refrained from saying that for every US serviceman that is killed, 20 civilians will be rounded up and shot in the main square...... |

All I'm going to say is I said it was a bad idea before we went in. I saw the writing on the wall. It's a freakin mess. And I'm not sure there is a way out. I think this will end like Vietnam. Democracy is a great thing.......if you want it but how can you call it democracy if its forced on you?

Coincidently, the adminstration finally admitted yesterday that they need to "reevaluate" their plans....
Todays headline on CNN "Shiite militia seizes Iraqi city" http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/20/iraq.sadr/index.html I still say my plan above is better then what they are doing now. However, they may be smarter then we think. Perhaps they want the rival groups to eliminate each other, the stronger one taking the country. Perhaps they see the coalition losses as a small price to pay in their big plan. Hard to believe..... |
