Iberostar Tucan Quetzal Trip Report 10-12/10-16
My current thoughts……..
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Ok, it’s been the longest 3 days at work this week, as we just came home Monday night from 5 days and 4 nights in Playa. I’m really pretty miserable, as I have come down with an awful cold, sinus infection, and cough. I guess that’s what happens when you leave paradise, and 92 degree sunny days, and come to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Baltimore, where it has been 35 at night, and it has rained since Tuesday. Not to mention the fact that the vent in my office is blowing cold air (the AC is still on), and I have my heater on high pointed at my feet…which might I add are still wearing open toe shoes, and flip flops today for casual Friday. I think that I’ve been touched with a case of “I miss Playa” already! (Sounds kinda crazy, I guess) But I’m already telling my husband Scott that I’m ready to plan our next trip for next year. Of course, he thinks we are waiting 2 years…but you just wait, if I talk to Shammy….I might end up surprising him with another mini vacation next fall. In the beginning……… Before I start my trip report, let me give you all a little bit of history. My name is Ang. In Mexico I refer to myself as Angelita- which translates to “Little Angel” (It was the name that my middle school Spanish teacher assigned to me, and it has stuck!) I am a buyer and logistics manager for a manufacturing company and live a very “GroundHog Day” kind of life. Scott (The Big Guy) is my husband, and he is a Baltimore Police officer. Two of my best friends and their husbands came along on this vaca with us. Amy (Paris Hilton nickname established from the $10 sunglasses that she purchased in the hotel lobby) is my oldest girlfriend (We’ve been friends for 28 years), and she's married to Allen, who I’ll refer to as DW- for reasons that I don’t need to explain. (think the movie Annie) And, my other girlfriend Carrie, (who we’ll call Drama Queen- you’ll see why later) Just a heads up, Carrie has a voice that is the combination of someone who always has a cold mixed with Fran Dresher from The Nanny). And her husband John (The Pharmacist- not because he is a real pharmacist, but he enjoyed visiting the Pharmacy in Mexico.) So we started planning this trip, (without any kids, there are 8 between the 6 of us), to celebrate the 3 of us girls 30th Birthdays. I am the “planner” so of course, I would be the one to look online, do all of the research, choose the dates, 6 different times, book the resort through the travel agent, change the resort that we would be staying at twice, pick which airport we would be flying out of, Philly and BWI are the same distance from my house, decide how we would get to Philadelphia Airport and arrange for private transportation to the IB Tucan/Q, because the Pharmacist didn’t want to encounter the slight possibility that the ride to the hotel could take up to 2 hours, if we had to drop anyone else off along the way. Needless to say, it took about 8 months to actually pick a date that we could all agree on, and find someone to care for our children. My parents watched our son, Paris’s mom, Nanny, and Babysitter watched her 3 children, and the DQ’s nanny and mom watched her two children and and her two step children stayed with their mothers. Pictures and report to follow……………………..
