Ebay scammers-I damn thee!

The title says most everything. Mostly just a rant-it seems that if you sell anything of much value on ebay, you have to be on your toes because now the scammers are watching you. I just sold an item (a little pricey), and now I'm hearing from all the bidders about being contacted about a 2nd chance offer to buy my very same item-except the person doing the contacting isn't me! I sure hope nobody fell for it. Sick of all the phishing emails I now get daily. Ebay needs to send out a posse to round up them good fer nothin' infernal varmits.

Been an active Ebay'er for over 6 years and never had any problems. Got an email from Ebay (figured it was phishing) this week stating "your login may have been compromised. We have reset your password. Now please reset your password in your profile and change your email password as well if applicable. "
No links to click so maybe it wasn't phishing. Went to log in and guess what, I couldn't. My account had been modified. Had to follow the regular procedures for the type of situation and got it activated. Haven't seen any 'fishy' activitiy, but apparently something did happen and they determined my info needed to be changed for security reasons.
Very sorry to hear of your situation. Have you informed Ebay or made changes to your account to further protect yourself?

i sense this is an ongoing and big problem. most people now list that they do not make 2nd chance offers.

paypal still has some problems to work out. like how long before the items should still be returnable. i sold some items. a scuba camera and case. the guy had it for 4 months and then said it was broken. i replaced it with a new one. 3 months later he wanted to return everything. 675 usd worth of equipment. (dive computer, regulator, octo, and camera/case. i asked for photos of the equipment to find out what condition it was now in. he refused then paypal sent him his money. can you believe that he had items for 7 months. he had me overnight them to him when he pruchased because he was on his way to cozumel diving. i was staff at a dive shop and had just serviced and certified each and every piece.

If you have a problem with E Bay, you need to let them know because they will take care of it.
I did and they took care of it pronto!

I've informed ebay, but the scam target wasn't me, it was the bidders on my item. My guess is that if one of them got burned, he'd tend to think I was involved. I also sent a heads-up out to the other bidders.

I'll have to check into that the next time. I think your right about it being a big problem-I think it's probably a bigger problem than ebay is letting on. That may be why they have low $ limits for buyer and seller protection.

I guess with as much money passes through them, there are going to be some sharks circling.

Man, that sucks. Very sorry to hear about that and anything greater than 30 days (and that's a huge stretch) seems completely unreasonable. Heard mostly positive things on PayPal and other than getting a cashiers check and making sure the fund still clear (legitimacy) there just aren't many 'safe' 'fast' ways of selling on ebay unless you process credit card payments personally.

Yes it is bad......I bid on an atv last week and didn't win....but have received 7 or 8 2nd chance offers to buy the very same atv from 7 different owners.......what a scam. It looked just like official ebay letter heads and the works.
