I have just learned recently from immigration, anyone doing volunteer work in Mexico, will need to get a permit from immigration. Basically the rules are the same as if getting an fm3 except the first thing you need to get is a letter from the organization stating what you will be doing. Also you would need to submit a letter as to what you will be doing and why. The fee is $98, renewable every year and in some cases proof of income will be required(bank proof of a minimum of $1000 a month). My husband is attempting to obtain a permit attached to his fm3. I will report back after the first of December.
