Smoking ??

We were wondering if the restaurants at the Iberostar Tucan are all non-smoking??
Also is most of the resort smoke-free?? Or do they just have designated areas?
Do you notice a lot of people smoking on the resort?? We live in a smoke-free city so we are quite sensitive to the smoke so we were just kinda curious to see what other people who have been there had experienced. Thanks so much!!!!

I've never been but from what I hear/read it seems since these resorts have a lot of Europeans visiting... there is a LOT of smoking going on. Apparently they smoke everywhere and all the time. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

It's Mexico.
You'll find people smoking almost everywhere.

I thought everyone smoked in Mexico. They are cheaper there, but are a bit harsher.
I think you will find places that are non smoking, but figure if it is outside or in the open, people will smoke.

There's a lot of smoking everywhere. I don't recall ever being asked "smoking or non smoking" at a restaurant.

I don't recall about the ala carte restaurants at the Tucan, but I do recall that the buffet restaurant had a non-smoking area, so I think you'll be fine. The bar areas and "the Plaza" (where the shows are), on the other hand, are all smoking. But with the Plaza, it's open air on the sides, so there was usually a breeze coming through which will hopefully make it comfortable for you.

Smoking is everywhere, but because most everywhere is outside I find the smoke less offensive than I do in the States.

You can only smoke at the outdoor rest. not the indoor. The last time we were at the IB Tucan I met a woman who smoked cloves, that is what I used to smoke. So she shared with me and I got hooked again. It took me over a year to quit!!! But I did and thats all that counts!!!!!

My husband smokes and I hate it. There are so many restriction here in the US on where you can/can't smoke.... I'm sure he'll love Mexico!

Returned from Tucan in September. To answer you questions - I'd say most of the resort was non-smoke free. You can pretty much smoke anywhere. In the main buffet restaurant they do have no smoking sections. I believe they also asked us upon entering the ala cartes (we're non-smokers). The beach restaurant is smoking all over, but it's not an enclosed space. All the couches in the lobby had ashtrays next to them and all the tables in the lobby bar had ashtrays.
Having said that, I was never bothered by smoke anywhere at the Tucan.
