Rooms at Secrets Capri

Hi folks,
I'm going to SC in May and though I bought the most affordable room (the only one I could afford - Deluxe Tropical Garden View) I was wondering if you could all help me out:
What rooms would you suggest for me to request, and conversely have you had any to stay away from. Room numbers would be great but even if you could tell me floor number, wing, view, etc.
Also does anyone have any tips on getting free room upgrades? Anyone have an email address (and maybe a name) that has proven well to work?
Thank for the help!

This is what Brent and I always do. We always book the cheapest room and we always take the earliest flight in. Once we get to the resort, at the check in we ask for a certain building or room #. Brent of coarse has a bill in his hand! It has worked everytime!!!!!

There really is no bad rooms. All the rooms are ocean view. Some of the rooms are on the beach. They offer no privacy. Its a great resort. One tid bit make reservations early for the restaurant on the beach It was great!! What a great choice of resorts You will love it!!

memomuffin - if it were me in in a tropical garden view, I would suggest requesting the South Wing. As of April 2006, there was not another resort next door. The North Wing you will be looking into El Mandarin. Did you check out my slideshows at www.robino.info -- we have been there twice and love, love, love it.........

Secrets room info

We were there in June. Stayed in Deluxe Ocean View. Were on the top floor looking out over the pool. It was a spectacular view. There really are no bad rooms, the tropical view can be a little isolated if your are towards the front of the hotel. Let me say this, the people there are dying to please you. You will have a blast.

Thanks guys, I know we'll have a great time no matter what!

So at the moment it seems like the best room request would include:
1. Top Floor
2. South Wing
3. Toward the back of the hotel

??? Does this sound correct to everyone? Does everyone else agree? Any more specific room requests??? Anything to add???

Here is the view from Room 221, which is a tropical view room.

Robino's site has tons of great information on Secrets, as does this site: www.chris-n-cheryl.com. Regarding the tropical view rooms, in her review, she states:

"The ‘tropical garden view rooms” are not all equal. Some of the tropical view rooms WILL have an ocean view above the mangrove forest. I would highly recommend you request a 3rd floor tropical view room in the south wing because those in the north wing overlook the El Mandarine, and those on the 4th and 5th floor overlook a mangrove forest as far as the eye can see. The absolute PRIME tropical rooms (in my humble opinion of course) would be 318, 319, 320, or 321. These are high enough to get a view over the mangroves and are closest to the ocean. Those same numbers on the second floor might be high enough to look over the mangrove forest. If you are in a first floor tropical view room the mangrove forest will start approximately 10 feet off your balcony. It’s lush greenery, but certainly not what I would want on vacation."

The above information is very accurate!

Have fun ... no matter what your room assignment, you will love the resort!

We're also staying in a tropical view room at SC so thanks for the tips. And thanks for your site link, Robino - really useful . Do they have ground floor tropical view rooms? We like the idea of a ground floor room... less of a walk to the bar (yeah so we're lazy!)

We may upgrade nearer the time though, depending on how the saving goes
