They are playing the victim now. The main singer stated that they are getting death threats...that is too bad, but that happens all the time to Bush, Hannity, Limbaugh and tons of others. They also blame Bush for their current lack of success... They are the ones that decided to take this stand and make it an issue. Do they really think that Bush personally called up all of these Americans and told them not to attend their concerts or buy their CD's. Freedom of speech works both ways, they have a right to say what they want and the american people have a right to either buy or not buy their crap....

If the like the sound of the Dixie Chicks...
Check out the latest release by: The Wreckers (Michelle Branch of Carlos Santana "Game of Love") and Jessica Harp. Their new tune has many similarities to the DC music - in fact many people mistake this new song for the DC girls....

If it was a rap group, a rock group, or George Clooney this wouldn't have gone as far as it did.
I am all for their right to express their opinion. More power to them. I am not OK with their whining about the backlash. If they had conviction, they would not have apologized and stood by their words. George Clooney, who I disagree with on a lot of issues, at least has the conviction to pay whatever price he has to. He is my favorite actor, and I admire him. The Dixie Chicks first waffled, and are now trying to claim that they were unfairly treated. They are making a second career as professional victims. Probably better, as their 15 minutes were almost up, anyway.

Greenday has made a living ripping on Bush...

I don't have a problem with an entertainer making a statement, taking a stand, but they need to realize that with there ability to speak to a larger audience they have a lot more to lose. Sorry Dixies....but oh well.

BTW Kirby, TK has always made it clear he is a democrat. He didn't vote for Bush, and as of right now will always be a democrat. His main opinion is support for our troops, which there alot of people in this country that doesn't. I don't think you will see him out there doing anything for GDUB, or the republican party anytime soon.

Yes Thor we are one world. Unfortunately there is a majority in this world that wants to take away our right of free speech. And I think history shows that we do what it takes to take care of it. Granted we as a country are in a situation that we are torn apart about. Do I have a solution? No. But, make no mistake that we will continue to fight against those who want to take our freedoms. And that goes for GDUB and his policies too.

Exactamundo. And the same goes for what Kelly said again down below. She gets it.

It all comes down to the listening public. Like Bufante said, Green Day punishes Bush in every song...but Green Day listeners eat it up because generally they are younger, anti-establishment types. Not so for DC fans.

The DC's never apologized, just so you know. I applaude them for that. Their latest song is all about this. Some of the lyrics:

I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

Haven't you ever bitched to your friends about your family? It's the same thing to me. I don't think the British are so narrow minded to thing that all Americans are idiots like their president. Trust me. I was there this summer and there were tons of American tourist everywhere who were being treated very nicely. What the Chicks or Clinton said/says does not make British or Europeans dislike the average citizen.

Of course it is. It is all they have. A one trick pony with a song and a movie. Whats next "I support the Dixie Chicks in Their Fight Against Bush Imperialism" t-shirts? This just begs the question of who it really is that wants to keep this little issue in the spotlight.

They wanted to build a fan base using Jethro and MaryBelle Six pack, which is not too hard to do these days when it comes to country music. Now that their fan base has evaporated, they have nothing but the event left. They are where they started, irrelevant in the music scene. They spoke up and got the ultimate smack down.

They will have to be happy with their new liberal elitist fan base. Its small, but the cocktail parties are nice.

I love democracy. Vote with your wallet.

Toby is a bit of an enigma. Hes a registerd democrat who sometimes votes Dem and sometimes Republican. He has made donations to the Republican party and has spoken out in favor of some Democrats....

IMO maybe we should all be a little bit more like this instead of towing the party line regardless like so many do on both sides of the aisle.

I don't believe anyone has an issue with them saying whatever goes through their vacant minds. I, for one, don't think they are unpatriotic, although I do think they are racist for using the word "Dixie" in their name.

Dixie Chick #1 strikes me as a spoiled little teenager who is going to give her opinion, no matter what. She might be shown evidence to the contrary, but she is not going to consider it. She waffles, then stands firm, and then waffles again. I look forward to seeing how she ages, when 10 years from now she appears on VH1s, Where are they Now? My guess is she won't have changed a lick, and she will spend the entire program badmouthing President Allen.
