Only if my eyes were closed might I consider voting for a Repub in the current environment. My eyes are not closed and I am tired of the the current administration trashing my country and the good for which it used to stand.

Yep you have made it quite clear.

By the way, we were in Oregon this summer...what a beautiful state! Bandon has a great animal park where we were able to hold a baby African Lion..pretty neat stuff! IIRC they had sheep there too!

Maybe you should chat with Babaloo - I think he got over his fascination with goats and he could probably help you with this sheep fascination

Oregon is a lovely state in the summer - pretty wet during the winter, but that gives us a good excuse to head to Mexico for two weeks in December.

Ronald Reagan (had it) ............You cannot say something that is controversial and then whine like a little baby when someone calls you on it. If you do, your words mean little.

I've never gotten political here, but, Really? Does anyone remember PATCO? Was it Reagan's conviction when he penned a letter to the president of the controller's union stating the following:

“I will take whatever steps are necessary to provide our air traffic controllers with the most modern equipment available and to adjust staff levels and work days so that they are commensurate with achieving a maximum degree of public safety. I pledge to you that my administration will work very closely with you to bring about a spirit of cooperation between the president and the air traffic controllers.”

Or was it his conviction, after securing the vote of the controller's union, but failing to follow through on his campaign promises after nearly two years, that he used to fire all those that he lied to?

Lest anyone has forgotten, or just didn't know, check it: Linky

Obviously, just one source, but much unpublicized info is available all over the internets. Just use The Google.

Didn't the air controllers go on an illegal strike, thus putting the lives of millions at risk? I thought so. Didn't Reagan tell them that if they went on strike, they could pick up their checks at the door? I thought so. Man of conviction.

Love them, love their music, could care less what they think, although in this particular situation...I like what they think.

Depends on what your saying and to whom. Maybe we should get a Queen. Oh, that's right we have a King. Hey, wasn't the name of our last King, King George too? Ironic.

Actually, it was Reagan himself who put the lives of millions at risk. If memory serves, the members of PATCO never intended to actually walk, rather use it as a bargaining tool to force the president to agree to make good on his campaign promise. Which, ironically was focused on making the system safer to begin with. (You did read the link, correct?) There were 481 reported near misses in the first year following the strike, as compared to a total of 10, in the previous ten years combined.

If you read up on it, you also would recognize that it all started with Reagan getting the (obviously Democratic) vote from PATCO, only to tell them (and the safety of the American public) to go screw once he was elected. A man of conviction, indeed.

Sorry, I don't do the Socialist Worker. I find that they tend to distort things a bit.

My wife and I were huge Dixie Chicks fans. We really liked their music and saw them live on the Fly tour. It was an amazing show. Then came the whole political thing. We decided that the Chicks had every right to speak their mind about how they felt and we have every right to show how we feel with our pocketbook. We havent spent a nickle on them since, didnt buy another cd and didnt buy tickets to their show here, which was subsequently canceled for lack of interest. I am sorry, I am not going to support them anymore.
s'allright....I think they are doing all right....we are going to see them in Saskatoon this coming weekend ...I LOVE the Chicks....I will let you know how it goes.
