volunteer or caretake at Sacbe?

Hi all- My family and I are serious about joining the community at Sacbe and will be going for a couple of weeks at the end of Nov. to experience the land and the people. We have a one year old daughter, Maya, and we are hoping to find a place to stay there thru volunteering or caretaking for the community. If anyone knows anything or a direction to send us that would be so great!!!!

I'd suggest contacting Ted Rhodes at the Pueblo Sacbe web sitewww.pueblosacbe.com. We have a place we're building there and will be there starting Dec 2 until Jan 4. Plan to retire the following January. Unfortunately it's not very habitable so far. We hope to get a basic bathroom and kitchen roughed out in December. Right now it's just a grass roof with an upstairs wood floor and downstairs dirt.

I would recommend you check the rules with immigration on doing any type of volunteer work. You will need a permit even for short term volunteer work.

We may have some rustic living options in the village when you are here,
or there are plenty of options in town. Let's stay in touch by email to
make the arrangements.

As you prepare for your visit, one possibility to consider is that our project
developer is currently offering a few of his personal SacBe lots on sale
at $40US/meter cash, to raise some money during the slow season here.
That is about half of the current selling rate, so if you like one of those
particular lots, this could be a nice value.

But your visit is most important for your decision. When you are
here and have seen the area, I can show you quite a range of property
choices.

There is another family here with a daughter named Maya too - I
think she is about four years old.

Please be sure to email me with your schedule so we can plan
accordingly. We're looking forward to seeing you here soon!
