Hate to say this, we got 2nd floor in May of this year, no ashtray, my husband ask for one, got two. They always cleaned them everyday and never took them away.We did tip room each day and also put $5 for a new bottle of tequilla for the room later in the week which they gave us a new bottle and took the empty. Did not know at the time it was a nonsmoking floor. The only time my husband smoked would be early in the morning before breakfast, then late at night. We spent most our time on the beach and then lobby bar at night.

It was the other way around when we were there skilohmyhusky. First and third floors were non-smoking, 2nd was for smoking. We were on the first floor and it was definitely non-smoking. I have asthma and can smell a smoking room a mile away. I would check on that if it's important!

There was a No Smoking sign (kind of a little tent card) right on the table as you walked in our room on the 2nd floor, right next to an ashtray! LOL!.

Hi,
I just got back from RPR last week. My hubby and I stayed in 2 different rooms on the second floor, and we did not specify on our room smoking/non smoking. Both rooms had ashtrays in them, on the balcony and in the room. Hubby smoked an occasional cigar in each room while there, and it was no problem. My mom was there also, and stayed in a first floor room, and requested a smoking room, and hers also had ashtrays and there was no problem w/her smoking. The Spices buffet had a smoking section, and most places I saw at the resort was smoking allowed. Hope this helps

Thank you Wundernurse. I have had many conflicting answers to my post, so am glad to hear from you about a recent stay.

I know Spices allows it up on the upper level, but I was never bothered by it when we were there. I just want to remind all of you to try Spices menu, not just the buffet. I had some of my favorite filets and shrimp dishes there. Also, make sure to ask if you want tacos, fajitas or the like. They are so willing to get you what you want. Their chicken tacos are to die for, especially from room service at 2 in the am!
