Mine has been running for almost 2 years now 24/7 and haven't yet (cross my fingers) had to replace the bulb. Of course buying a new DLP, yours will be better than mine.
There are two different types of DLP out there, 1080P & 780P. No one yet broadcasts in 1080P but the specs on it are much better, just depends on if you want to spend the extra $$$. Read the reviews and do searches on the internet for best prices. I bought mine through distribution and saved almost $1,000. Now retail prices are almost the same as wholesale. The local Fry's in town here has pretty darn good prices for retail. My friend just got the 60" Philips DLP w/ STAND for a little over $1,700, not bad. Good luck, it drove me crazy on trying to choose. I might get a 42" LCD for my bedroom next. |

If I were going to get a new display today, I'd buy a Panasonic TH-50PH9UK. I don't subscribe to the notion that plasma burn-in is a problem for the average consumer (or in playa.info member's case, above-average consumers).
This produces, by all accounts, a drop-dead georgeous image. It's big at 50". You will need to provide your own speakers, but I don't know why anyone would want to use a display's speakers, anyway. $2000 to your door. BTW, www.cnet.com is an excellent resource for all things A/V. Last edited by James A.; 11-09-2006 at 06:18 PM.. |

I've had this Panasonic AE900 HD projector for about 6 months.
http://www.panasonic.ca/english/audiovideo/television/HomeCinema/ptae900.asp Hooked up to a HD satellite receiver and projected only a 110" HD screen. It's amazing, simply amazing. A good source of info for alll types can be found here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/index.php |

The Samsung was one of the first generation DLP's ...I got it when they first came out..the lamp was good for about 2years, and since I had an extended warranty, there was no cost..it took the tech about 5 minutes to replace.
