Sweet! I will post my picture settings that I obtained after spending hours and hours with a calibration DVD. The settings with which most TVs ship are much too hot.

I have the 42", but I assume the settings will be pretty close, assuming you're in a moderately light-controlled environment.

Hi all, well I've been doing some research... thanks for all your suggestions and links to different sites.

Anyway, I think I've narrowed it down to either of these two... let me know what you think.

I agree with Jacko. Go with the Samsung. You are more than likely to find a better deal on it that you will the Sony and they seem just about equal in the specs.

You're right, the Samsung seems to be better priced. Since we've narrowed it down through research... our next step is to visit several stores and compare them visually. Apparently with all things being somewhat equal, it just boils down to which one looks better to your own eye.

Get the Samsung. I love my Sony but if I got a huge TV like the one you want, I would go with the Samsung. The ex-BF has a Samsung; it's nice.

I bought the Samsung DLP 52 inch a couple of years ago, and we have been very pleased. I would buy the same thing again. The same TV is a $1,000 cheaper now that it was when I made my purchase.

I am one of the unlucky few that sees rainbows with DLP's, so my personal vote would go to the Sony display.
