Most comfortable footwear
I just finished Pamplemoose's trip report "Hotel Fusion" which sounded like a blast, except for one thing - her achey, blistered feet!! I'm the type of person that likes my feet to be comfortable throughout the day, and let me tell ya, for me, that's quite a challenge! You name the brand, I've tried them - I'm always on the lookout for super comfortable shoes, never mind while I'm sitting hear in front on my computer, but especially when I know I'm going to be walking around, exploring, and of course a little dancing!! I wear Birkenstock sandals and clogs and still my feet ache and hurt all the time!!
So my question is what do you wear on your feet that provides comfort all day long, and especially being in PDC, it has to be some sort of a sandal. I hate closed toe shoes, I need my feet to breathe. Heck occassionaly I do wear sandals in the winter, with socks. Yes I know, a huge fashion faux-pas ). I did see the recommendation of Havaianas, which I've already checked out their website and plan on going to a store nearby so I can try them out!) I don't mind spending a bit of money for comfort (and fashionable would be nice, too! Oh, and one more thing comes to mind to about Pamplemoose's report: the mosquito bites! Last time I went to PDC we asked a bunch of people that had already been there for 2 weeks if they were getting bit. They all had the same answer that they were surprised at how little they did get bit, well wouldn't you know it, the next day I had about 20 moquito bites all over my legs, and then there was my fiance with absolutely none. I don't know, some people have that sent the bugs love, and unfortunately I have it. I make it a point not to use any perfume, lotions, etc. but bugs love me, I guess I'm just naturally so sweet! Any tips are always welcome for either of these two issues so bring them on!

Well, I for one am not much of a sandal person...however, my friend swears by Birkenstocks and Tevas. There are, of course, many different lines in each so you have to determine what will work for you. With that said; I just bought my first pair of Teva 'Pretty Rugged' and they feel light and wonderful on my feet. I've only worn them around the house as it's getting to cold here for sandals...but they seem great and they are for Playa!! If I get blisters, I will kill my friend...she'll be with me in Mexico!

Another 'oh heck' is that some people (like me) have feet and ankles that swell in Playa and it makes most shoes uncomfortable. Got the tip from others to pack water pills on this trip. Looking forward to not having cankles!!!

You can't come between me and my Birkenstocks, but I like Teva's as well. But for a splurge go for Borns. Swedish brand, last forever and are way comfy! I have some Born walking shoes that have traveled more than most peope I know! thay also make really cut sandals. Don't for get to wiggle your bare toes in the sand

When we were grtting ready to move to Playa we each bought a pair Tevas now I (Jim) never have any other shoe on, not very style concious. When we are back in U.S. and I have to put on real shoes it just gives me one more reason to get home to Playa. I have bought several more pairs even though they look pretty much the same. The are really comfortable.
