Not Colorado...Minnesota - snow but no mountains, just hills for skiing.

yes the picture is loveley, found it on the National Geographic website...really gives the idea of the silence around snow...and the strange chalky noise of the footsteps...thats something i really miss...and the pure air...and going back home and feeling sooo cozy and tired from the cold...

Never been to Minnesota but I have some dear friends and they always say they have REAL cold winters....they're coming back to playa this year too, love them!
...escaping as you say...but they always tell me they'd never move here..

I wouldn't either, at least not at this time in my life, perhaps in 10 or 15 years or if I were 20 years younger without a family.

It's not as cold as you might think...you get used to it

i perfectly understand what you mean...why leave your personal heaven back home? I'm sure we all have one, with or without snow, beaches, rain, its just your home and you love it. I moved here for another reason ( ) and as you may guess, it didn't work out as planned....buuuuuuuuu

Delta and Frontier have nonstop flights to Salt Lake City.....about 3.5 hours in the plane; then a 40 minute drive and you're in The Greatest Snow On Earth.

In case you miss snow, try this.
