Read this and kind of freaked!!
I was doing some reading about Play on this site and came across this in the Mexican food section...
"As you might imagine there are plenty of combinations, so try different ones. At places serving carnitas, you can find tacos of eyes, cheeks, udders and other parts that you may have never considered eating before. Close your eyes, if you must, and go for it. If you wimp out, just ask for macisa, which is pure pork loin." Will I be served eyes and udder???!!!! My stomach just did a back flip |

Exactly...just do it! If you are eating at a place that uses appropriate cooking and food handling techniques...which they do in Playa...why would they want to kill off all the tourists?...then you're fine! If you've eaten hot dogs in the states you've eaten all that stuff and worse. The workers at a nearby packing plant put it succinctly..."lips and assholes" are the main ingredients of a good ol' American weiner. If you are adventurous, you may find something wonderful you just love. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

![]() On a serious note, I wouldn't fret over what stuff you see on your plate. In general terms, you will not see anything you haven't seen before, in terms of meat sources and vegetables. Inevitably, you'll come across some novel food recipes and food items, irrespective of how many times you've eaten at your local Mex restaurant back here in the US. However, such novelty should only add to the exciting experience of being in MX, since there is no valid reason to suspect that you may be eating something foul or noxious. Enjoy it. And in the event you change your mind regarding your trip, give me a call, send me a PM and lets arrange for me to go instead. ![]() ![]() |
