Red Cross Blood Donation
FYI,
I tried to give blood today and was rejected due to the fact that I had traveled to Playa del Carmen in the last 12 months. They say it is due to the fact there is Malaria in the area and also the areas where the ruins are located. Interesting. |

Same here. I've been donating blood for years and was rejected every time I had been to an area that has a malaria risk. Like the Yucatan peninsula. |

I used to be a regular donator....even had my '25 times' pin
...then about 8 years ago we started going to Mexico and we haven't been able to donate since. I think it is ridiculous, unless you spent quite a few months there, and away from touristy areas.

Well, that is better, anyway- more reasonable.I think the rule is here in Canada (not the Red Cross anymore, it's 'Canadian Blood Services' here now ) is that anywhere in Mexico eliminates you....but it might be for only 6 months, not 12, it's just that we have been going every 6 months the last couple years, so
