What style bathing suit compliments a body, best?
I'm counting down into the 70 days range before Playa. I have to start thinking about what type of suit to bring. I'm not a thin girl so I need to put some thought into it so I'm not completely self conscious the whole time.
So, do you like 2-piece, swimdress, skorts, tankinis, boy shorts, v-necks, scoop necks, low back, high back, halter top, etc?? There are SO many styles now which is good but it's also overwhelming. Think of what does the best job in concealing back fat, side fat, tummy pooch, cellulite thighs, large ass, and anthing else you all have problems or concerns about. They sell suits with 'powernet' in the stomach area to help control the flab..boob lifters, boob amplifiers and even ass fillers (as if!!) I want all your secrets!! Help me look my best! |

Bikinis for All
You will find that virtually everyone wears bikinis - regardless of body type. Playa is much more European in this respect. There is a refreshing lack of self-consciousness on the part of people on the beach and in the water (and on the streets, for that matter). Women who wouldn't dream of wearing a bikini in the US do so here, and feel good about it. Now having said that, you will see a few one-piece suits and more than a few tankinis. In short: wear whatever you like.

You will see all types of women in all types of swimsuits (or lack there of
) in Playa. Just wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable! I have found though, that I tend to choose swimsuits and clothes that cover a little bit less (or a lot less, in some cases) while I'm in Playa . I think it's just something in the air down there! |

Okay you made my day I love my tankinis, much more comfortable than a two piece or bikini and cooler to wear sunbathing than a one piece. Biggest mistake I ever made was getting a one piece black bathing suit and then trying to sunbathe in it. It was the perfect suit for swimming but I had to change out of it as soon as I got out of the water ![]() |

What do you normally wear? What is your body type and what are your problem areas (assuming you have any )? Every body is different, and different styles are flattering on different people....my best feature is my stomach area, so I wear bikinis, they look the best on me- specifically the halter style tops and lower cut, regular coverage bottoms. I look like a short dumpy troll in one- piece suits. But the next woman with a bit of a gut who has nice long legs, will look best in a one-piece. *shrug* |

Well I always wear one-piece suits. It’s what I feel the most comfortable in and, I think look the best in, even my hubby prefers me in one-piece. I am petite, not even 5’ tall and am a little overweight (well ok, maybe a little more than little, like 20 lbs.). I have a scar from a c-section running vertically to my belly-button so, anyway, no bikinis for me.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I would love to find a tankini that looked good on me, but I just can’t. I think it’s because I’m short waisted?? I would love to find one where the top just skims my body, but every one I try on always clings real tight (even if I try on a larger size) and they kind of bunch up and look dumb. If I could find one that worked I’d get it. However, no matter where I am, Playa or otherwise, I’m not going to wear something that I feel looks bad on me. I would be totally uncomfortable then. |

Coming from someone who is much bigger in the hips and ass then the rest of the body, I wouldn't buy any bathing suit that has shorts on the bottom. Then ten to make your thighs and your hips bigger. I would go for a bikini bottom, that is not to thin on the side- tie ups are not good because they draw attention to that area.

Full coverage bottoms, high cut legs, but not too high, no side-tie strings. Halter bra top is most flattering on me. I have all the usual problems, big ass, big thighs, little tummy, some back fat. Whatever, it's all good. I wear a bikini here because it's most comfortable, but I definitely don't try to pretend I can wear a "teeny" bikini.
I know many women like tankinis, but I find that on me, the top "ends" just at the part of my tummy I hate the most, putting it on display. |

Me neither. That ended about ten pounds and 6 years ago when I hit 30 and broke 130. I find tankinis really unflattering on myself too...I am long waisted, so that is not why, but they make my legs look shorter and cut me off at just the wrong spot too. ![]() |
