Dawg Fitin in Wisconsin
Don't be alarmed, it is not what you think. We have dos perros, a 5 y/o Basset Hound named Freud and a 13 y/o mostly deaf Springer Spaniel named Spirit. We call them our Jimmies, Cagney and Stewart, respectively.
Freud gets a rawhide bone almost daily, and he rarely finishes them so we have little bone nubs laying all over our house. Tonight, after Freud got a new rawhide, Spirit decided to grab one of the old nubs. Cripes was Freud PO'ed. We had a very irritating but hysterical dinner listening to these two go at it. Spirit would intentionally drop his nub on the floor then grab it back the moment before Freud could get to it. So WOO... WOO ...WOO. This went on for ever, I don't know how many minutes but through our entire dinner, before Freud finally got it away from him and peace was restored. We are soooo proud of our Grandpa dog making his last stance against the little bully. Hope there are many more to come!! Last edited by Mexivoof : 11-14-2006 at 09:39 PM. |

I can relate to this!! Tiggy is 13, while Eli is only 4 1/2. Eli loves to annoy Tiggy, trying to get her to chase him. But usually the reaction he gets is a hiss and a swat at his head. Weight-wise, they're pretty much equal, but Eli is in his prime and healthy as can be (he's truly a wonderful specimen of an athletic, energetic cat), while Tiggy is a rather elderly, a bit chubby, sometimes a bit cranky "mature woman".
Sometimes Eli pushes his luck with Tiggy and gets "in her face" one too many times, and Tiggy reacts by attacking him full on and the two of them scream and holler and roll around on the rug for about 10 seconds. Eli usually walks away looking a bit surprised and embarrassed, whereas Tiggy sits there looking satisfied and like she's thinking, "So THERE!! Don't f*** with ME, pal!!" |

oh yah... this happens all the dang time in my house! lol... between 3 dogs and 2 cats, they're always vying for "top dog" position! but my little doxie usually wins out... we call her Granny NATO... she barks to break up any fight that erupts... it's pretty funny! well, until she barks too long... then it's less funny!

We have two dogs who let us live with them. Jinx is the matron. She was a walk-on 8 years ago. Some moron dropped her litter near our place in the country. For years she railed all over our older dog Willie. Now that Willie is gone to doggy heaven, Remy is the new kid on the block. He is a Katrina survivor of sorts. His mama was airlifted out near death and gave birth to nine pups a week later. Now we have to laugh because Remy is running Jinx's a$$ ragged. What goes around comes around

Meanwhile, Spirit just tries to hide behind the humans and stay out of harms way.Watch out Freud, you don't know it yet but when Spirit gets to the bridge, Basset Buddies Rescue has a LOT of Bassets who need homes, one of them will be coming here, and YOU'LL be the old guy ![]() |
