What have I done?
Three daughters. We couldn't stop with two kids. No we had to pile on the abuse. Three daughters. The oldest is twelve and everyday is a battle. Three daughters and they are all drama queens.
My wife went out to dinner and to see Wicked tonight so I am home alone with three daughters. My oldest is sitting at the computer earlier writing a report for school. It is bad enough that she is sitting with her iPod on but I decide to let this go. A call comes in for her and I tell her to make it quick because she needs to finish her report. I go down in the basement to play with the younger girls. About 30 minutes later I come upstairs and the oldest is still on the phone. She sees me and says "it's ok dad, I'm still working on my report" No it's not OK. Hang up the phone and finish your work. How can you write a report when you are talking on the phone. As a small punishment for her for not making the call quick like I had asked, I tell her that she is not allowed to use the phone for the rest of the night.Fast forward a couple hours and the phone is ringing. Caller ID tells me it is one of her friends. It rings twice and stops. I know she has answered the phone. I go down into the basement and sure enough, she is on the phone. She sees me and says "I gotta go". Did you not understand what I meant when I said no phone for the rest of the night? "Yes I understood, I'm sorry". Oh if I had a dollar for every time this girl said "I'm sorry". So you understood me but just decided not to abide by the punishment? Three daughters. THREE DAUGHTERS...three daughters...three daughters...three daughters ![]() |

I, too, am blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. They are now 39, 36 and 28. And they are absolutely wonderful. The oldest has given us 3 grandkids, the middle one has 2 and the youngest is a high energy entrepreneur with 2 thriving businesses in San Francisco, where she moved right after high school because Minneapolis was too "dull".
If I could have packaged the "eye-roll" it would have filled my backyard. And to make it worse they were ALL real drama queens. Heavy into theater and Renaissance Festival (one even married an actor/playwright!). No father in history was as cruel as me. But, they grow up. Some get married. They make wonderful lives. And they are an absolute joy! They are three of the most interesting people I have ever met. I had to travel extensively for business when they were your daughters' ages. I missed so much and I regret having missed so many events in their young lives. Hang in there. It's really, really worth it. Last edited by eccentrictinker : 11-17-2006 at 01:17 AM. |
