standard issue 'reserve' presents...
hmm, that sounds kinda military-ish.. but i don't mean it that way....
i like to have christmas gifts on hand for the people that surprise me with a gift... you know, some kind of generic gift that's already wrapped and easy to just pull out when you get that unexpected gift... but i'm going braindead this year on what to buy any ideas? i'm tempted to buy a bunch of Starbucks giftsets to have on reserve, but do you think people will think that's lame since i work there now? |

My brother in law is a regional manager for Pier 1. Think we get a lot of Pier 1 stuff? Heck yeah, but if you like it then great. They have nice stuff and he only gifts us with stuff he thinks we would like. I think the only time I have though negative of a gift is when my other brother in law gave me a present of something (specific item) that he had borrowed from me months earlier. WTF? I just chalked it up to "he's a strange one". |

I think good universal gifts to have on hand are all sorts of gourmet food items- local jams/jellies, chocolates, coffee, tea, etc. Then, if you have no one to give it to, you're justified in eating it yourself
Thats also my theory when I buy 5 bags of my favorite candy at Halloween for the 3 kids that are actually going to show up at my door- wouldn't want to short change the kiddies![]() |

I thought this thread was about wine.
I do the same thing...this year I bought a few pairs of those cushy 'house socks' made of that chenille type super soft material? They are great. like these In this climate I should add. ![]() |

I guess not a lot of men on your "unexpected" list? I have two pairs of those... love them with my flannel pj's... and yes it does get cool enough on occasion down here to wear that combo... ![]() |

...it's usually a girlfriend who, after not exchanging gifts for years decided to out of the blue start again without telling...why do people do that? ![]() |
