bought a koran

I just went out and bought a koran. This way when people such as Daddy B start preaching their holier then though knowledge of such issues. I'll be able to look it up in the source itself and say no that is not what it says here.

So Daddy B bring it on, if you have the courage.

By the way I also got a flying rug with the koran as an extra.

Why do you say it's "holier than thou" if someone has knowledge that you don't have? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say that someone is more "knowledgeable than thou?"

How much does a Korean cost? Do you need the Korean to fly the rug, or can you pilot it yourself?

Actually someone will come back asking if it is the same version as they have. If it isn't then, I have the wrong version therfore it is not compatable with theirs.

Stogey,

Technically you bought a translation of the Koran. No Muslim would recognize the words as true.

The only Koran that Muslims recognize is written in Arabic.

I know it's a fine line and I've argued this point with my Muslim friends.

Their contention is that they don't have to wash their hands before handling a translation and it holds no bearing or meaning to their religion.

I have found it useful to argue points on Islam with Muslims using the translation but they always have to go back and read it in Arabic (if they can).

Remember that there are many many many Muslims worldwide who cannot read Arabic and therefore cannot read their own holy book.

This is quite interesting. When the Catholics first got started, they had the same problem with illiteracy. That is why the Pope and his associates spoon fed whatever information about the bible to us unwashed massses they wanted to give us. That is until a man by the name of Tynndale wrote his version of the bible. This version was produced so widly and it conflicted with some things of the translation that the Pope wanted to give to the masses as far as information.

So the Pope along with Henry the VIII had Tynndale burnt at the stake. All because they didn't want the masses to have knowledge of what they knew.

I completely agree. Islam largely is in the same position Catholicism was 100s of years ago.

That is true. I've read alot about the history af the bible. Even the King James version was put together by a committee that was suppose to keep whatever would have been controversial at that time out of the bible. 75% of the new testament is taken from Tynandales bible, and he died because of what he put in his version.

Maybe there is a part in the bible that says that although a royal family may be holy, but they are subject to their laws even more so then the average person. And they could be judged in the end even more harshly if they don't follow the laws in which they subject their peoples to.

Are Daddy B's gasses turning to liquids, or is he talking down to you

If he is experiencing the former, I would recommend medical attention immediately.

Depends where you are. In Korea, they're about $20 a night. 50% discount if you buy 2.

Thai rates are much better. $20 a week.

Before anybody gets their panties in a wad, this is NOT from personal experience.....I didn't inhale. Kinda.
