Hola from Indianapolis
Hi fellow Playa-lovers,
I've been visiting playa.info for several years now and been down to PDC a half-dozen times over the last three years. (My wife and I and another couple are going to be down for two weeks in early January.) I'm a real estate developer in Indianapolis and Meredith works at a gourmet grocery and local restaurant and helps me in my work. We would love to live at least part time in Playa and would eagerly welcome any advice from local forum members who are "living the dream." I'm 39 and Mere is 37 and we're ready for a new locale and a new chapter in our lives. I was thinking that there might be opportunities for "virtual" mortgage brokerage for Americans looking to buy vacation, retirement or investment homes in Playa now that there are a handful of U.S. banks lending for these types of purchases. (I'm not a broker but have been on the other side of the table for a long time, so it it something that I figure I could pick up.) Meredith has more and more diverse talents than I do and speaks far better Spanish. (She spent three months in Chile earlier this year in an "immersion" program.) Until we got our language "legs" we would probably both be best suited to something where we could work with foreign tourists. We have a three year old Pembrook Corgi named Skoda. (Does anyone remember the shrink on the old episodes of "Law & Order"? Yum... yeah... he's named after a TV character.) We enjoy travelling, food, wine, entertaining, reading, writing, old houses, new friends. I would love to hear from others who are thinking along similar lines as we are as far as making a move, people in the real estate-related industry that would help me make this more than a pipe-dream, others from Indianapolis or the midwest who share our love of Playa, or anyone else who keeps the Playa Web Cam in a corner on their screen. Cheers. Mike Garber Indianapolis |

Hey there fellow Playa lover and Indy dweller! Welcome to the forum
Not thinking of moving down there (only dreaming of it) but I am sure you will find tons of info on this board. It seems we have a lot of the same interests (food, entertaining and travel) would love to know what restaurant and gourmet shop your wife works (if you are OK with sharing). My BF works at Kona Jack's and is in culinary school. I just have a natural passion for food and love to cook. Best of luck with your planning the next chapter in your life! . |

Wow! A fellow Indy dweller and a reply to my note in just minutes! Even though it's 60 degrees here today we must be on the same wavelength. Meredith works at Deano's Vino on Mass Avenue downtown. We live downtown and she'll occasionally "pick-up shifts" at Lockerbie Pub and the (now under re-construction) 745 on Mass. I love Kona Jacks, although we call anything north of 62nd Street "Canada." Where is your boyfriend in school?
I love to cook too and would love nothing more than to eventually own a restaurant in Playa. What side of town do you and your BF live? |

LOL
Well, we live in Canada then We live on the northwest side (96th and Towne) Funny cuz we rearely go downtown (probably for the same reasons) but we love it! Just went to a Colts game a couple of weeks ago. We have never been to Dino's I have heard of it though for sure. Lockerbie Pub, I know the area-close to Mass Ave. right? Great area down there, must be fun. Josh (BF) is attending Ivy Tech-they have a great culinary program there. I am excited for him. Me (Chris) am a Pilates instructor and massage therapist in Carmel (Alaska for you ) |

Just read -- and printed-out and put in our Playa file(!) -- your trip report from last year. How fun. Are there any other Indianapolis "peeps"? I'll send a PM and maybe the four of us can get together one of these evenings.
