Sol and Corona and AI Resorts esp. Grand Coco Bay
Okay one of the guys in my group only drinks beer and he likes Sol and COrona (does not care for Dos X or other mex beer)
Does the GRand Coco Bay serve Sol or Corona. I am still trying to narrow down resorts and us girls are not that fussy on the drinks, as long as they are strong!!!! |

The only 'heads-up' I'd give you about that resort is that they have the worst stretch of beach I've seen in all of Playa...the beer is the least of your worries. I hate to criticize any hotel - but when I was walking all up and down the beach and reached the Grand Coco Bay, all I could think of is "thank God I'm not staying here" I would have been so pissed. Oddly enough, I've never read anything about this issue yet on this forum? Maybe I was there on an off-week or something...but it was terrible and I was so grateful I didn't stay there.
Just my two cents.... |

I'm another one to chime in and say that I thought the beach at the Grand Coco was pretty darn decent - and NOTHING at all like what was described as "the worst stretch of beach in Playa". Trust me, there are FAR FAR worse beaches!!

Shammy - just as you have said in many of your posts - everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I guess mine was that of all the beaches I walked through, that was the one area I was so grateful I wasn't staying at for a week.
As you can see in the pics above, there are a ton of annoyingt boats out front, and if you're like me, you'd like to be able to swim out more than just 20 feet (I'm exaggerating). And, the week I was walking through, there was a lot of seaweed and rocks (mid November). The boats to me were a total eye-sore. But again - that was my own personal observation. Whatever you choose mortgagechick, I'm sure you'll have a blast. Especially if it's your first time down there.

and of course you are entitled to state your opinion that the beach at the Gran Coco was really bad. But just like you stated your opinion, others chimed in to state theirs - myself included (and BTW, I wasn't the first nor the only to say something so I don't know why I was singled out ). I think the reason why some disagree is because the majority of people are happy with the beach conditions at the hotel, especially compared to the sometimes smaller, more rocky south end of town which also is home to many boats, so to hear someone say it was the worst stretch of beach in Playa just goes against common belief. Either way, it's no biggie, I don't believe anyone meant for you to take these comments personally - just stating opinions here is all.

There is alot of beach there... and you can expect seaweed on the beach anywhere you go. Like someone said here.. If you don't like the boats you can just walk a little bit further north (2 minutes) and there you have almost a whole beautiful beach almost by your self, not too crowded..
When I wanted to get peace and quiet I went there.. Coco beach it's absolutely breathtaking.. But cada quien por su gusto
