i just returned from my 2 week vacation at reff club playacar a couple of days ago and i really had a good time. its smaller than most other places along the playcar resort strip but therefor has a nice layout and is a bit more intimate. its not one of the topnoch all inklusive places you can in that area.. but i liked it way better from what i have seen at all them 5 star riu places. the food at the buffet, snackbar and italian restaurant was always very good and they had a nice variety every day. staff from the different bars, restaurants or the activity team was really nice, polite and caring. Everything was always very clean. The rooms/bathrooms were cleaned throughoughly every day and even during the day employees were always out and about around the places to keep everything nice and clean. All in all I had a really good time and will probably go back again next year. for further questions email me at nera78@yahoo.com

We had five adults and a pre-teen there for the week of Christmas. It was great. The rooms are not fancy; although one couple had a third floor room with a great balcony and sitting area. Everything is very clean and well-kept. Staff are alway around to pick up and clean up. The setting itself is beautiful; very tropical.
The buffet was good (although we would have liked more choices in restaurants). We ate at the Italian restaurant Christmas night and were disappointed with the food (could have been that some of the staff were taking the day off!). The beach is great. There is even drink service on the beach! The pools are clean and well-maintained. Lots of activities if you like organized fun. Reef Club is convenient to town ($4US taxi ride, or walk/bicycle). We didn't spend a lot of time exploring PDC; 5th Avenue is the main tourist drag and there are about 4 shops that repeat themselves again and again (jewelry, sundries, t-shirts, souvenirs). We didn't find any bargains there; but you might if you ventured into the non-tourist areas. We felt very safe everywhere we went. We took the ferry over to Cozumel (about $17US each). Cozumel is worth exploring. We went to a national park call Chakunab and had a great time snorkeling. Our last day was spent on a tour to Tulum and a natural park called Xel-Ha. Tulum is very interesting if you like ancient ruins and a historical perspective on the area. Plan on half a day there. Xel-Ha is fantastic. We only had a few hours; so we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we wanted. Plan on a full day to get the best out of it. We snorkeled and some of the girls swam with the dolphins. What a great experience! We will definitely go back. |
