Road Info
I need some info on roads between Villahermosa & Champoton.I love scenery but don't wish to attempt a bad road in Mexico-which can give a whole new meaning to bad road.Actually I have driven extensively in northern part of Mex & find most roads comparable to roads in Texas & the toll roads although pricey are as good or better than any. This will be my first excursion into the south part though.I am having trouble deciding which way to go from Villahermosa-where toll rd ends-to Champoton-where toll starts again.Should I use the coastal route (hwy 180) through Ciudad del Carmen or the more inland route of hwy 186 to Francisco Escarcega then hwy 261 north to Champoton? The second route is a little longer but if more scenic &/or more scenic will use it.Also I notice Palenque is not far off 186.Is this something worth seeing?Thank's to everyone for any help-also if any locals need something from the states delivered drop me a line & if I can help I will.

Can't help you on any of your driving questions, but I can 100 percent recommend visiting Palenque if you're going to be anywhere near it. It is spectacular -- right up their with Tikal and much more interesting than Chichen Itza. Cool wild-west kinda town too -- at least it was 15 years ago when I was there last.
