Currently in Playa and Need Help!

I am posting this from a little internet cafe in PdC. The wife and I are planning on going to Oscar & Lalos on Friday. Obviously we can take a cab there, but that would be quite pricey. Any suggestions on how we could get there cheaper? If the answer to my question is via collectivos, how and where do we get a collectivo? Thanks.

considered renting a VW for the day? there's plenty to see on the coast to make it worth while.

otherwise, the collectivo is cheapest, but you'll have to walk from the highway to the restaurant, unless you hitch somehow

Wondering the same thing...

How far is the walk from the highway to Oscar and Lalo's? A mile? Half a mile?

I'd rent a car to get there. One of the things I miss most is the drive along the "Tulum Highway," and all of the interesting stops. If you want to go to a fabulous beach that is somewhat empty, but has facilities, exit at the "La Playa" sign and go to Xpu-Ha. They have a nice little bar, and the sand/water there is fantastic.

I'd rent a car. It's a good hike in from the highway. And it'll give you more flexibility to explore along the way :P !

Just in case you need them, John in DC posted excellent directions to Oscar Y Lalo's here.

Friday, Oscar and Lola's, need a car?

Based on my reading of multiple messages on multiple boards we have decided to rent a car for at least part of our time down there. Gonna get a VW and, as they they say in Brasil, matar saudades of a VW bug from college days--which was more than just one decade ago.

Based on a total lack of experience down there, I can confidently advise you to rent a car. Advice might change after our trip .

Cute James. I figured you and Anna already had a new nick all picked out for me .

Doodad, you're too sweet . However, no one even comes close to our "Top Babe", Anna.

And Guest, I hope my posts are a little more insightful than "Been-There-Done-That" . Though "Tour Guide" is at least a little more redeeming.

I would have thought all you master minds would have been able to come up with something a little more imaginative :-?. And I'm really surprised Dougie hasn't chimed in yet !
