A Wake for Bones

I didn't want this to get lost at the end of the other thread so am starting anew.

His neighbors in Paamul have organized a wake for Bones (Larry Lawrence). It will be held this coming Sunday, December 10th at 2pm in the second floor bar of Mom's Hotel in Playa del Carmen. Organizers ask that you bring a covered dish or some other food item to share, and plan on buying your drinks there at the bar.

Unfortunately, after the initial contact, no one has been able to reach Bones' family, so we don't know what will, or has, become of his remains, but his neighbors who have been working so hard to put some closure to Bones' death didn't want to wait any longer to pay homage to our friend, so this event was planned to honor him.

This is so very sad but in the same breath so touching....It really shows how "family" doesn't necessarily mean biological family...

I think you will all give your friend a wonderful goodbye & that is one of the most special things you can do for him....

I hope you all find comfort in your happy memories..........

Susie, Thanks for adding this thread about the wake. Rob circulated some flyers yesterday, but I think the internet communications is more effective. We´re having trouble guessing at the number of attendees, but will be providing lots of roast chicken (freezing any left-overs.) It´s also Football Sunday.
"Bones" had his fatal heart attack while sitting at Mom´s bar.
Hope to see everyone on Sunday.

The wake for Bones was very nice... well-attended - Mom's bar was packed and tables were overflowing with good food. The volunteer bartenders were hopping. There were pictures of Bones displayed and a couple of people spoke, evoking fond memories, some hearty laughter, and more than a few tears. A neighbor sang a song a capella that he had written himself about Bones, and I don't think there was a dry eye. I asked him to send me the words to it... it captured the man and his life to a T. If I get it, I will share it with you all.
