I read this site religiously before my trip to Playa Del Carmen (PDC) to get information about the brand new resort I was staying at, Secrets Capri. I just got back yesterday after spending 6 glorious days there and here's my review:
i only if you are looking for quiet. There is very little to do but R&R. It is very remote. There is only one resort next door and other than that, you can walk for miles on a secluded beach without seeing anyone. I absolutely loved this!!!! The staff are amazing especially the Apple Tours folks who booked me on many tours. I'll tell you all about those if anyone is interested.
Downfalls are that the resort is very new and they are still working out some of the bugs. I asked for a different room after my first night because of the loudspeaker at the party resort next door and a funny smell in my room (like sewer). On my first day there, I was so exhausted from a stressful life that all I wanted was sleep. The alarm clocks are bizarre and I never did figure out how to turn them off. I wasn't the only one as you could hear alarms going off at all hours. The power went off one night...but all of these minor inconveniences were just that--minor. The resort itself made up for it. The food was exceptional at all the a la carte restaurants..five star dining really.
So I highly recommend it but only if you want a quiet, relaxing place. It is 99% couples. I went alone and there were only two others like me. Everyone else was paired up. There was a wedding the first day I got there.
The spa is OK. I got a massage when I first arrived and it was nice. Again, the spa needs some finishing touches but all services are available.
I loved it and would like to go back with my husband.
If anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer all...as mentioned, I really looked to this site for information before my trip which was Dec. 11-16th.
