mamita's

could anyone tell me what mamaita's ploicy is on bringing you own small cooler. I'm sure we will eat our lunch there daily however it would be nice to be able to bring in our own beverages.

Not sure... as far as I know it is not allowed officially. But I don't know if they say anything. We had persons bringing their own beverages (not in a cooler though) in November and that was no problem. Might depend on the season too... in high season it is more likely that they will tell you that this is not allowed as there are potentially more customers ready to replace you if they tell you to leave (just my 2cents - not sure they'll do that).

As far as I know, being a beach club with its own bar and restaurants, they won't allow you to bring your own food and cooler...it happened a short while ago to some people I know, and they were kindly told to leave.

if you sit in their chairs and under their umbrellas you are expected to buy from them...
...in fact there is a sign stating no food or beverage allowed.

however, some rebels like Nerak brought their own drinks with no consequences.

But, if you don't use their chairs or umbrellas
you are free to do what you want - mostly.

We went there everyday for 5 weeks (love the beach) we ate lunch there most days and purchased a few drinks but most of the time we had our own little cooler with a few pops and beer.We were never asked to leave and the waiters were all very nice.

When we go there we eat and buy a few drinks. I usually bring a few (6) extra Sol's to save a few bucks. We always bring large bottles of water with us which is never questioned.

When we were there last week, people were told they couldn't have the cooler they'd brought with them. We had bottles of water in our packs but they were out of sight and we definitely bought regular food and drinks, so I guess they didn't mind so much.

"Rebel Nerak" here to clarify Babs's comment...

We were staying at the Grand Coco Bay Resort, had yummy and very strong pina coladas prepared at the GCB for our insulated mugs, and then strolled down the beach to Mamita's to meet up with some peeps with said mugs in hand (in others words, we didn't bring a cooler with us). We still ended up giving some business to the Mamita's bar, as my pina colada was so strong that I needed to buy a virgin pina colada to water it down!

We have talked about this numerous times before (do a search perhaps?) - someone even posted a photo of a sign that said no coolers allowed. It seems a few people have done this although not sure how because as you can see, the majority say it can not be done - and - I have personally seen Mamitas waiters tell people they can not have a cooler or bring their own drinks.
