FM3 renewal late

Does anyone know what happens if I return to Mexico after my FM3 has expired by a few days? Will they require I get an FMT and then try and renew the FM3 in Playa? I know there will be a fine but can they cancel my FM3? Thanks for any help.

If you have the white fm3 sheet you filled out when you departed, just hand that in on your return. You should then go to immigration as soon as possible. Your fm3 will not be cancelled but expect to pay a fine. Not sure how much. I understand that changes have been made again at immigration, so things may be different now. We always expect the worse when dealing with immigration and that is why we always retain a lawyer.

Lawyer

Thanks Maya. Can you give me the name of the lawyer you use to get your FM3?

This happened to me 2 years ago. I entered with a tourist visa and then renewed my FM3 when I got here. If you are under a retirement FM3, no need for a lawyer..It's too easy to do. I'll be glad to help with your paperwork questions for a retirement FM3.
