How do I add an attachment to a new thread?

I have a Microsoft Word document that I would like to add to a new thread because the format is good and it is easier accessed and printed by interested readers, but I cannot figure out how. It is infinitely better than just cutting and pasting into the body, especially if it is two or three pages.

Can you give some instruction, as I could not find anything by searching the forum.
