An Aging Poll for People over 40 Only
I'm coming up on a year that contains a major birthday and everytime I look in the mirror, it reminds me of that. Just wondering how other people feel about the inevitable process.
Please respond on the poll ONLY if you are over 40 and choose however many might apply. The cosmetic surgery part applies only to aging reversal type of procedures, so my blepharoplasty for vision issues wouldn't count, for example. |

I punish my skin in the sun and moisturizers are my best friends. My Mediterranean genes are very slow aging - you should see my Mah at age 84 - beautiful! As for cosmetic changes the only thing I've ever considered was botoxing my "divorce lines" - the furrows between my brows... My kiddo talked me out of it as that would leave my face expressionless. I think you know how my face speaks volumes My one and only aging complaint is winter aches and that's about it. I ain't gonna give up my 3" heels, nor my short skirts or bearing the "solar cells" to the sun! True beauty is earned from life's experiences and a great sex life... which I must run off to tend to right now! love yiz! CLo |

Yeah, I'm one of the ones thinking about surgery, but I have a "condition" for it, and I'm not there yet. My condition is that I can't have it until I'm doing everything I should be doing for myself: 15 or so pounds less than I am now and maintained for a year, working out on regular basis, and eating the way I should. I'm only good for about 90% of one of those right now, so.. it's not gonna happen for awhile, if it does. My hope is that when I meet those conditions, I will no longer want or "need" surgery.

I agree with Carole. I think the older you get the more likely you are to accept these changes as part of life! Besides it gives us character, shows we've lived and we are still beautiful!! Surgery is not an option for me... And I'm not about to give up the sun either!!

I am not sure how I feel about it..I have really just started to notice the "fine lines" this year and some sun damage. I recently switch to a new make up for over 40 woman (it made a big difference to me). I am a big fan of micro dermabrasion...it works good for me. I also love a good professional peel. But you really have to stay out of public view for about a week when you have one of those.
A friend of mine at work had some work done on her face...a lift.... at first I thought it looked good..but a year later I think it made her face look a little strange. |

I voted for: I’m not crazy about aging, but I’ll accept it.
I'm getting the little "fine lines" around my eyes and mouth, and I sure am not crazy about the scowl lines between my eyebrows(and I know smoking is a very bad thing for the complexion), but it's not so bad at this point that I'd consider doing anything about it with cosmetic surgery. If only I could find a way to always only be seen in candlelight. I look GREAT in candlelight!! The rest of my body...*shrug*. I weigh the same as I did when I graduated from high school in '76. It's just the flabbiness quotient that's rising. But if I get off my butt and start walking again and lifting a few dumbbells, that could be taken care of. P.S. I'll be 49 next July. |

We live in a bowflex society which puts unrealistic pressure on people to live forever and look great til the day we die. All we can do is try to do the best we can and gain from our experiences and pass it on. I'm ok with being way over 40. If the world doesn't like me it can bite me!
