Playa del Carmen Beaches

Can someone tell me if the beach in front of the RPRM is washed away?

I have not seen it as of late, but the beach there is artificially protected by the north pier. Because of this it is normally quite large.
edit: oops you meant Riu Palace Riviera Maya we thought you meant Royal Porto Real. Seach the all inclusive board for info.

No, I saw it last week, and the beach is beautiful right there.

The GPR beach seems to dissappear every so often, but the RPR beach has always been nice when i have seen it.

Beaches come and go, we've experienced both, just depending on the wind. In Wisconsin we have a saying: "Don't like the weather, wait fifteen minutes".
As for beaches in Playa "Don't like the conditions, wait 15 hours". A tad of an exgateration (sp?) but not far from true. We have seen the beach in front of the Playa Maya grow from one row of chairs in front of the palapa to 3 in 48 hours, and on our last stay, vice versa. Good luck, enjoy your stay, and hope for southeast winds!

YES, this is true. The beach in front of the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is presently roped off and non existant.
