Do you take vitamins and/or supplements?
Just wondering who takes what and why.
My daily regimen: With coffee first thing in the morning (cuz you're supposed to take it on an empty stomach), I take a Nature Made Sam-E. A co-worker turned me on to it. It has ingredients to help "Joint Comfort, Mood Support, Liver Health". Then when I have my morning Slim-Fast breakfast (cuz you're supposed to take vitamins with food to help with more complete absorption), I take: Two Triple-Flex tablets consisting of 1500 mg of Glucosamine, 800 mg of Chrondroitin, and 750 mg of MSM One Centrum A-Zinc 500 or 1000 mg (alternating days) Calcium with 200 I.U. Vitamin D One B-12 500 mcg One Selenium 200 mcg One Vitamin C 500 mg Why do I take the above?? The Sam-E to hopefully help with the pre/pari-menopause that I'm in or about to go through. The Triple-Flex for a family history of joint (knee) trouble. The Centrum cuz my diet sucks at times. Ok.... sucks most of the time (I don't cook... much). The calcium cuz I'm a woman and don't plan to audition for the Hunchback of Notre Dame when I'm 65. The B-12 and Selenium cuz... well, they seem like good things and I'm too lazy to go read the labels right now. The Vitamin C - why not. Won't hurt. EDIT: I also take a daily Allegra-D for my allergies. If I forget for a couple of days (like on the weekends), I end up with itchy eyes, runny (more than normal) nose. But egaaaad that crap is expensive - even with insurance. Last edited by Nerak936 : 12-17-2006 at 06:28 PM. |

I take a multi vitamin daily. I also take 500-100 mg Lysine daily to help to prevent cold sores..........seems to be helping!! I take 2 TBSP Udo's Oil a day.........my allergies have become non-existent..........I take Cold FX and extra garlic and Vitamin C when I feel a cold coming on...........I know I should take calcium as well.................but a person can only take so many pills a day!!

I also take 2 tbsp Udo's oil - 2 capsules of Menosense, as well as 500mg calcium citrate (?) ( all support for menopause, which at 30 I have been surgically forced into...might add a few more things to this as I am trying to get off the HRT)) I also take a daily allergy pill (10 mg Loratidine, same as claritin but I buy an "no-name" brand from Costco which is $9 cdn for 72 tabs) I would love to be able to take B12, multivits, etc but I have great difficulty swallowing pills. The above named substances either get mixed into my breakfast smoothee or get crushed and forced down in a teaspoon of applesauce
wah. If anyone can suggest good vits and supplements that are liquid or some other non-pill-swallowing form and don't taste like SHITE please enlighten me!! |

I don't any vitamins or supplements. Once in a while, I get on a kick and take Tums for the calcium, but I'm not currently doing that.
I just had a blood screening and everything was good. And, this afternoon I took and passed the pencil test ![]() ![]() |

I take Solgar Formula V (no iron) which has darn near everything in it and I add a zinc/cal/mag, Vit c (up to 2000 mg throughout the day), B12, CoQ10, a liver support formula (
) and acidophilus and triphala for intestinal health. THEN I also use Flax/EFA oil on a salad or mixed in my oatmeal (keeps your coat nice and shiney ) |

Oh jeez! I'm not very good at taking vitamins...
I took magnesium and calcium for a while then I kinda got out of the habit. I should at least take cal/mag, but I can't take it in the morning because that's when I take my thyroid, and then later in the day I just forget... maybe I'll start taking them at bedtime.... again. And btw, I passed the pencil test too... I can hold three or four at a time!! Course if I stand up really straight and pull my shoulders back and arch my back just enough they fall off!! ![]() |
